shadowplay Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I live with two male students, and one of them I'm starting to feel really uncomfortable around. Basically, he's extremely pissy and passive aggressive. He leaves his crap around everywhere, rarely washes his dishes and then gets irate when anyone else is slow to clean up their mess. He never greats me anymore, even when I say "hello" first. He gives me nasty looks. It's like he decided at a certain point that he hated me, and I have no clue why. Tonight I was trying to be social, talking to him and my other housemate (whom I like) in the living room. He went on this bizarre tirade about Emily Dickinson when I mentioned that I liked her poetry, calling her a "horrible wench," and claiming that she couldn't possibly be a good writer because she was depressed and isolated. I was really disturbed by how vicious he got. I've also heard him make other disparaging remarks about random women. I'll be living with him for four more months, and I don't know how to deal with it. Any advice?
kizik Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Are you on a lease? Sounds like it. My roommate told me the other day to get out by the end of the month. I was really upset, but the next day I went out and found a cool one-bedroom, having decided never to live with roomies again. Have you tried sitting him down and expressing these thoughts to him? It sounds like he wouldn't be very receptive, though. Who owns the place? Who was there first?
