hi guys,

I am actually writing a book which focusses on the "third person' so to speak.

It will be a controversial book for some, as affairs and mistesses/lovers are still a subject of great taboo. However it does exist and its happening all around us.

I want to collate real stories from real people and their experiences. I have always found fascinating how we always see the third person as evil and assume that they were ok with it, but we never really hear how the situation has affected them.

Have you ever been that "third person" if yes would you like to share your story and have it published in a book?

If yes please e-mail me direct.

Have a fab day everyone

Just wanted to send out a warning to OP's:

Don't share information with strangers.

Not everyone in the world has good intentions.

you mean email addresses etc?

don't list personal contact info. it puts you at risk.

all you need to do is read in the forums here. go to the OM/OW or infidelity or separation and divorce sections... you'll have enough real life situations for twenty books.

Sel, Green eyes is right. If you want personal stories then wait until you have enough posts to PM members.

Is this even allowed? Exploiting these forums for "business"? Creating books or articles out of the anonymous, time-consuming, often well-written posts of others?

Sure I will give you my interesting story....If I can have a small percentage of the book royalties....Were I to find my writing here or my quotes in someone else's book, I would find that a total invasion of privacy, not to mention outright theft...

Ladies, IMO, I find this exploitative...This forum should not be easy fodder for novelists and "researchers".

The OP should go out into the world like a good sociologist and non-fiction writer and dig up real-life, eye-to-eye case histories. Not this kind of passive Internet research.

All right. Just my two cents. Others might disagree...

I appreciate your views however if I really wanted to exploit peoples' personal stories I would just copy them from the forum without asking for concent.

And yes I am also meeting with real people on a face to face basis.

Again your feedback is appreciated but please do not assume.

OE - while I share your sense of moral disquiet, technically everything written here is "in the public domain" since it's published on a freely-available site on the internet.

That said, no journalist or researcher worth their salt would take any internet claims as anything but "hearsay" or "anecdote", as there's no way of verifying it. Hence this OP's attempts to get live people to interact with him / her in some kind of on-the-record, verifiable way - it adds credibility to his / her journalistic claims; but it does also threaten the pseudonymity of the informants, who may inadvertantly give out TMI rendering them recognisable in the text.

My advice to anyone who's not prepared to go on Oprah / Jerry Springer (same thing, I know  ) with their story is not to respond to such requests. Not just because - as OE suggests - your tale of heartbreak is being used to generate profit for someone else, but because your privacy is at risk.

While some people may not care, for others there could be a real material risk.

Hi OW,

Cheers to you and your H :D and good grief, you and I share the same xW stories. I think you asked it once before: Are we married to the same man?:laugh:

You are right about the "public domain" aspect, which I did not consider. Creepy. I for one would be "traceable"

Edit - And no, I've never been an OW and never will be one. Nothing's worth this kind of stooping.
