Finally moving on to more serious romancing lol.

I am cooking dinner (preferably italian) and so far the menu looks like

- asparagus wrapped in smoked salmon

- chicken piccata

- ricotta cheese with rasberries

plus bread/salad?

I need suggestion for music (right now i have oldies from starbucks cd's) and setting up the mood. Plus, what should I wear?? I don't wanna be overly dressed in my own house :p but maybe cute lingerie?

Also, should i ask the guy to bring the wine or do i just assume he'll bring some?

Lastly, what are the suggestions for the activities after the dinner? I live near the river so I was thinking taking a moonlit walk but i'm open to something else more romantic!

Thanks!1

1.) nice menu, go for the salad.

2.) Bossa Nova music is nice, maybe a little Kenny G if you have some.

3.) Attire? Something nice and casual and comfy.

4.) Romantic walk sounds nice, try asking the guy what he wants to do after dinner and if he wants to go outside for a bit. Let the moment lead you.

From my experience guys like these things:a lot of candles (vanilla), a dim room, christmas-like lights inside your place on your door or on plants, soft music (may be jazz). Do not give him too much food because all blood in his body will move to the gastrointestinal tract but the romantic dinner needs to have some blood available for smth else. After dinner he will prefer a conversation at your place. He would probably hate the idea of walking outside. He would like that the conversation will turn into kissing and smth more intimate. That is what he is really hungry for.

All described above applies to a regular casual male. Your guy may be very different from the regular male so you should treat him differently.

Great menu! Lucky guy!

Romantic dinners are so much fun.

For the wine: Hopefully he will bring a bottle, but in case he opts for flowers, play it safe and have a bottle on hand.

I looooove cooking for my man. And I love to serve nice dinners in courses. I TOTALLY got into this when I lived in Europe. It allows ample time for digesting the food, enjoying the wine, and savoring great conversation.

Italian courses go like this. You don't have to serve every one, but this is the usual order.

Antipasti: Your asparagus dish is perfect.

Primo: The pasta or risotto dish.

Secundo: The meat, poultry, or fish. Serve the chicken piccata to comprise these two courses.

Contorni: Vegetable or salad, often served with Secundo, can be left out. (I often prefer to serve this before Primo, the American way.)

Dolce: Dessert, the raspberries.

Jazz is perfect. GOOD jazz. Coltrane, Bill Evans, that kind of thing.

Wear something nice but not fussy.

I would not ask a guest to bring wine unless he asked what he should bring. Hopefully he will. If not, I agree you should have a bottle on hand.

Moonlit river walk is perfect!

Have fun!

That's classic, just don't overdo it. Shouldn't feel fussy/contrived. Needs to more or less match your usual style. Don't ask him to bring wine (but have a bottle on stand-by). Then, if he doesn't bring wine you'll have back up. Or you can dump him for being such a obvlivious classles wimp and eat dinner alone . Then you can bust out the white gloves :).

sigh.. I wish I had a guy to cook dinner for again...

your menu sounds perfect... definitely have the salad... oh, and like others suggested, have a bottle of wine on hand just in case. As fas as what to wear I would skip on the lingerie or you may never get around to eating that dinner you worked so hard on! ;) I say a cute comfy dress or a nice pair of jeans with a cute sexy top... comfy but very cute and you can't go wrong! ;) and the moonlit walk by the river afterwards sounds perfect...

man, I had date with my ex just like this.. cooked him a nice dinner and afterwards we took my dog for a walk around the lake and the moon was huge... dang it, I still miss him sometimes...

anyways.... hope you have a awesome night! we want details tomorrow! jk! ;)

oh.. and I almost forgot... as far as the music... maybe something mellow like Ben Harper, or Bob Marley.. "turn the lights down low"!

Hum... the menu is perfect.. (I hate cooking though)...

Suggestion for music : soft romantic music

what should I wear : a nice sexy dress (light material) no underwear.

For the wine, have some at home.. he will probably bring a bottle, then open HIS bottle, save yours ;).

suggestions for the activities after the dinner : how about dancing in the living room...lots of candles, a nice massage (he will do the massage, you cook )... then hot SEX all night long.. or till exhaustion... :bunny:

I'd avoid asparagus if you're looking for romance... ya know, asparagus can... uh... be not so pleasant. ;)

Instead, switch that for prosciutto wrapped cantelope.

As a guy, I can vouch that Kenny G is cryptonite - avoid at all costs if you want to avoid vomiting :). But at least you'll know that it's not the food. Some classic piano music could work great. It is groddly underrated.

Some nice long red candles are a MUST for a romantic dinner. Be sure to also have a nice selection of white or red wine depending on the meal and her taste. My G/F loves candlight dinners to this day, even if its a basic meal.

As far as music, some soft classical music is always good, avoid that Kenny G/Barry White stuff. It may backfire on you.
