cyril's fan Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 A guy I met at the coffeeshop last week just asked me out for coffee. Sure. I wasn't analyzing whether it was a date or a potential hookup until he called me back to clarify that it's no more than a casual hanging out. Am I missing something here or have I been stuck under a rock for too long? If someone of the opposite sex suggests coffee, do you consider it a date or just two friendly people having a get-together?
JohnnyBlaze Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 It depends on a lot of things. In your situation, I'd have taken it as a casual date; one of those "if things go well, I'll say it was a date. If not, we were just hanging out" dates. The part about him calling you to clarify was kinda weird, though.
likestolaugh Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 if it was just a random guy , and you didn't know each other beforehand, I would have assumed it was a date.
Author cyril's fan Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 It's weird all right. So do we have to start clarifying each time we ask someone out now? *No, really, no. This isn't a date, okay? No, you're not getting the point. We're just two people hanging out. Do you get it now?* Why can't people just accept that any first "date" is just a meeting between two people, nothing more nothing less?
