maxpower1954 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 There's a woman I've met who has three rings on her ring finger - two have diamonds on them, and what appears to be a wedding band between them. Is this common? I can't remember seeing this before, and I haven't been in an appropriate environment to ask her about it. Just curious...
Trialbyfire Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 This isn't uncommon. One is probably an anniversary band. Edit - I hope this is a platonic relationship, otherwise, why would you be having a relationship with a married woman?
jerbear Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 engagement, wedding, anniversary or ring in a ring holder that makes it look like 3
Star Gazer Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 My friend has two simple thin diamond bands on either side of her ornate engagement ring. It looks really nice. That's 3 rings. Otherwise, 3 rings usually stand for engagement, wedding, and anniversary bands.
TaraMaiden Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 This is what is known as an eternity ring. It is a ring given to the wife by the husband to denote that when he made his vows, he meant them for eternity. I have seen many second-hand ones for sale, so it causes me to wonder sometimes..... _/l\_
boldjack Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 On the other hand, (sorry , terrible pun) maybe they are ONE for each ex-husband. In that case, run, don't walk to the nearest exit.
loser101 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 _/l\_ I'm sorry Tara but each time I see this sign in your post I think of a vagina. Is this supposed to be two palms pressed together? Or is it a vagina?
Lauriebell82 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I'm sorry Tara but each time I see this sign in your post I think of a vagina. Is this supposed to be two palms pressed together? Or is it a vagina? LOL, oh my goodness. Anyway, I agree it's probably an engagement ring, wedding band, and anniversary ring.

But the former is correct..... ~/l\~ (monk sleeves)...
Eve Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I have three rings which symbolise, engagement, wedding and eternity. Take care, Eve xx
subdued Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Me too, Tara. I thought it was a vagina. If you want to know about the rings, then you will have to ask her. There is no way to know otherwise. It's easy. Just say, "Oh what beautiful rings you have," and then ask your question. If she wants to tell you about the rings, she will. It's not possible to know for sure whether or not she is or was married without asking. We don't all know the rules of etiquette or follow them even if we do. I was married for 16 years, and I stopped wearing my wedding ring when I became pregnant with my first child. My whole body swelled when I was pregnant, and the ring felt very uncomfortable. I got used to not wearing the ring after 10 months of not wearing one and getting dirty looks from women who wrongly assumed I was a pregnant teenager without a husband. I felt rebellious and no longer wore a ring after that. In some countries, the woman wears the wedding ring on her right hand. The reason is that this is the hand that is commonly placed on the heart. I now wear rings on both my left and my right ring fingers. I used to wear my grandmother's ring on my left ring finger after she died. The ring is very special to me. I now wear the ring that my boyfriend gave me on my left ring finger and my grandmother's ring on my right ring finger.
Shock Me Sane Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I'm sorry Tara but each time I see this sign in your post I think of a vagina. Is this supposed to be two palms pressed together? Or is it a vagina? I thought it was a vagina, too. Haha. The two palms thing never even occurred to me.
2sunny Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 i'm not married but at times i wear the rings my three kids gave to me... simple bands - each look different than the other but meant to be worn together... gold - slim - and pretty. that may not help - but you can never assume why a gal is wearing a certain ring - some women also wear rings that are family heirlooms... just because they mean something special.

LOL I actually wear my eternity ring on my right hand. I know that sounds odd but short fingers (blame my father's genes), etc - I just can't carry off 3 rings on one finger.
