colosseum Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 What should you NOT do on a date, specifically in the early stages of courting (< ~5 personal meetings)? I think I did one on my 2nd that was a no-no: ask her about her love life (as in "what's your love life") BAH fool. Oh well; what happened happened. Live and learn, right? Others?
xpaperxcutx Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Talking too much about themselves, and delving too deepily into my affairs.
xpaperxcutx Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 And being extremely vague about their occupation like they're trying to hide something.
Author colosseum Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 wow, that's a great quotation: "To regret one's own experiences is to arrest one's own development. To deny one's own experiences is to put a lie into the lips of one's own life. It is no less than a denial of the soul.", De Pronfundis, Wilde Not unlike Nietzsche's idea of the Overman/Ubermensch. In response to papercut, though, I don't think I talked about myself much at all, but I can safely say I probably delved too deeply into her personal matters. better luck next time I guess.
samspade Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 If it's an early (getting to know you) date, don't: - Talk about yourself too much - Discuss religion or politics - Ask her about her job or discuss work. This seems like an obvious go-to. Most people get bored talking about work. It's not going to ruin anything, but I put it in here because it can lead to very lame discussions. - Spend too much money or go to dinner. Do drinks or a fun activity. - Discuss sex in an overt or piggish manner, but if she brings it up, see where the conversation goes. - Stare at or ogle other women. - Stare at her body; a glance is okay if done correctly. - Let the date drag on. Quit while you're ahead! Let a little anticipation build for the next round. - Finally, don't chicken out. Go in for the kiss. It might not be there, but you'll never know if you don't give it a shot.
