so what do you do after you break up, and the person becomes your bestfriend? It's basically the same right? What do you do now

accept it...move on...how long does that take?

How long it takes depends on the people involved, how long you were involved, how serious you were, etc. I would recommend you immerse yourself in other things so that you don't sit and think about the relationship all the time. And you MAY be friends, but I still think it's a good idea to take a break from face time from said person. It gives you a chance to separate your feelings from that person and start to get over them.

I second SoulSearch_CO. The no-contact (NC) period I think should be proportional to how long you've been dating and/or how deeply you've been involved. It varies, but I think it's hard to become "best friends" with your ex, no matter how close you were before you went out with him/her.

Just my 2 cents.

Man, there are as many answers to that as there are people in the world. You may be ready to move on right away or you may need to get busy w/ other things for awhile. I was married for 23 years and my husband dropped a bomb and I was ready to move on right away--some may think that's weird b/c I loved my husband and didn't go out on him, but for me it's right--not for most other people maybe, but for me it was. Maybe I was not really in love with him, and maybe I was chafing against the strictures of marriage or maybe I just need a relationship more than most people would. Or maybe it's just the way I'm made. That last seems likeliest.
