Lovin a scrapper Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Some of you are aware of my LDR situation and I wanted to have some fun on here since we all have our own highs, lows and troublesome situations in all of our relationships. My beautiful baby and I are planning our wedding next year :bunny: and here is the dilemna. She is a country music lover and Im a hard rock lover so we have a first dance song problem at the reception as you can well imagine. So what Im looking for on here are some suggestions. Please be creative cause Im gonna suggest alot of these to her. Could there be a crossover song that we could use? Who knows! Thanks all!!! Jeff
Island Girl Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Are you really holding tight to your "rock" side? Because there are a lot of beautiful romantic country songs that would lend themselves to a first dance. As far as cross over - I can't think of any rock with country.
Author Lovin a scrapper Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 Im open to anything. Even though Im a rock guy, im a softie. lol I thought it would be kinda fun to hear lots of different suggestions no matter what genre.
TaraMaiden Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Donny and Marie osmond had a hit song - this is sure to please you both.
Sibyl Vane Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Please to dear God do not allow it to be anything country. Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine would be my choice. I'd rather not admit where I came across it.. But I doubt that's something you'd like. Maybe try something by The Beatles...Journey perhaps. I can't stand either but most people seem to.
Trialbyfire Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 If you're looking for a crossover country/rock-pop band and song, try Blue Rodeo. They had a hit in the early '90s, maybe around '92 or -93, called "Lost Together". Moosh city and perfect for an LDR!! I'm def. not a country fan but I do like some of their stuff.
Rollercoasterr Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 My fiance is a metal head and I'm one of those girls who likes everything from frank sinatra to otep. And I do mean everything. He was kind of reserved about having a country song as our first dance song, but the more we listen to songs, the more we realize that some of the most beautiful love songs are written by country people. One of his favorites of the bunch is "she's everything" by Brad Paisley. I like "I do" by Paul Brandt. Were both open to anything as long as its beautiful. I thought that it would be a big hassle since he usually only listens to music that gives me road rage(and it does), but he's been very smooth about the process. Its about the words and the meaning of the song and the dance, not the genre of music.
Author Lovin a scrapper Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 Thanks all. So far so good. I may also check up on some old 80s power ballads to see what I find there too. The quest for the song remains.
LikeCharlotte Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Cursed Sleep -Bonnie Prince Billy I'll keep looking
KikiW Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 That song Picture by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow? Not really a love song, but about as crossover as I could get.
KikiW Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 If you want a love song - Change the World, by Finger Eleven. My baby set that as his ringtone for my calls
Author Lovin a scrapper Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Thanks for all of the help. We stumbled on a song called "Everything" by Lifeforce. Its a beautiful song and right now its the one that we are gonna use. Check it out and let me know if anyone likes it.
