Athena Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 It is the feeling of infatuation and wellbeing with an affair partner during the affair. Not AFTER the affair. Being in a fog is like not noticing your surroundings, not having any insight into reality -- nor how to find your way out of a messy situation. It's like being lost in a fog, but not realizing it at the time, just sorta enjoying the mystic beauty of it all. The Reality hits hard After the affair is 'outed' or ended. The fog lifts and one can see clearly the flaws and faults of the affair partner... and the knock-on effects and consequences on gambling outside of the marriage. I remember a few years ago people here on these boards used to call it being in "Lala land"... i.e. not dealing with Reality.
seibert253 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Even when the WS is caught and confronted, the fog can continue until really finally kicks in. Sometimes it's too late and the damage is not repairable. No rhyme or reason on how long this lasts after the affair is "outed".
bentnotbroken Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 The fog is nothing more than the fantasy created by the AP's. It is the fantasy world they have created for themselves. All the wonderful qualities they believe each person possesses, without the reality of flaws, weaknesses and selfishness.
