By chance? At the right time at the right place? Or just bump into them in the street? I want to hear when you have met you SO's! Were you looking when you ran into them?

Back in junior high we were good friends, then through high school we didn't talk. Then during the summer we talked and she seemed interested so I said whatever and we got some smoothies and watched a movie at her house... and that was that haha.

I was not really looking for anything serious and neither was she... but here we are going on 10 months.

I was serving as TA (teaching assistant) in a class, and she was one of my students (although she's actually older than I am by about 2 years). Obviously I didn't make a move then, but added her to facebook at the end of the year. We didn't talk until early December just by a complete random comment that started it... I've been seeing her since.

I was on break from a 2 hour long summer class and I was hanging out with my homeboy in the bookstore, he worked there. Here comes my beautiful GF to ask him a question about where she could find her book. All the while I'm nudging my homeboy in the rib telling him to get at her. He doesn't, she leaves to go find her book and he leaves to go help someone else all the while telling ME to get at her. Lol....so here comes my GF walking up to me asking me if I worked at the bookstore because I wasn't wearing the staff vest. I could've been honest and said no, but I really wanted to talk to her so I just said yes and went along with it. My friend overheard and was in the adjacent aisle jumping up while keeping up with us showing me where the book was while I was talking to her. She started laughing and was like "You don't work here do you?" I replied "No I just wanted to get a chance to talk to you" with a big ass grin on my face. She laughed and then I pointed her to her book. I chit chatted her up, asking her her name, where's she from, if she's single. We hit it off really well. She was all smiles. Here we are 11 months later still going strong.

Randomly at a BC vs Duke football game. He started talking to me, while he was wasted, but he had me laughing the whole game plus his friends and i were making fun of him. (it was a blowout game, if the game was close i prolly wouldn't of given him the time of day). I gave him my number not believing he would actually call. A few weeks later he called and we went to a semi-formal, which lead to a dinner and a movie... We have been dating for over 2 years now and still wicked in love. His friends and I still make fun of him for that game.

It was random, neither of us were actively looking for a relationship, but both wanted more than a hook up. We both knew what we were looking for and were very comfortable, confident and happy being single, but were open to a relationship.

BF#1 in HS, I met in one of my classes and I made a move. We dated like a month before I dumped him.

BF#2 I met through a friend. I needed a special project done for me and my friend knew a guy that did that sort of thing. We met up and dated for about a month (ugh - mutual break, he was a waste of time).

BF#3 turned into XH#1 (LOL). I met him at work. He was one of my supervisors.

BF#4 on eHarmony...whom I'm with now quite happily.

In the first 3 cases, no, I was not looking for anything. I thought BF#1 was cute and went after him. BF#2 thought I was cute and wanted to get me in the sack  . My XH...at the time I was definitely not SEARCHING, although I did have interest from a couple of people at that job.

BF#4 is the only one in which I was technically actively looking. But TBH, when I signed up on eHarmony I thought it was going to be a waste of money and I wouldn't find anything worthwhile. Maybe a fun date here or there, but nothing serious. I was wrong. LOL

In High School. But we werent really friends back then, just friends of friends... which I think is one of the reasons why we are dating now... to start dating an old friend is just weird.

He came to visit me for Halloween with a mutual friend of ours, and we haven't stopped talking since!

At a bar my brother hangs out in.

This particular place was the chosen "party place" for that particular rugby season.

Saw him there one Saturday after the game that day.

Then a couple weeks later I went again and it was another game day so he was there. We have been together ever since.

Great stories everyone!

I met my SO when he was on duty (he's a police officer)- I was with my friend at a local bar across campus. My friend got really drunk that night, we went out for a smoke by the door. He was giving someone a ticket for something in the parking lot and was about to get in his car when my friend just fell down to the ground (she was sooo drunk). I was struggling to get her back up so we could go pay our tab and go home, and she is a much bigger girl than I am!

He came over to help up my friend and asked if we were ok to drive etc, I said that I was the designated driver for her. My friend goes, "Wow, you're cute," and goes on to ask him if he was single etc. He just laughed and said, yeah, unfortunately, then my friend asked for his phone number!

He said he didn't give out numbers to drunks, and she was like, "No, no, it's for my friend here." I wanted to die! I actually didn't get his number that night when we parted ways, but I started seeing him around campus at the local coffee stores and we sort of started talking until he finally asked me out on a date  That was in november, and he finally asked me to be his girlfriend in January  We say 'I love you's' all the time now

High school ... he was my teacher. I had a feeling of deja vu when I saw him for the first time, it was pretty weird actually. Anyway, nothing happened back then at all, so it's no messy story. I moved to the other side of the world after I graduated, and only moved back recently, which is when we got back in touch. The spark was still there and the rest is history.

A co-worker and I went to spend a weekend at a beach house rented by his father. His sister was there, together with some of her friends. My future wife was one of the friends, and the first time I saw her was in a bikini. Wow.

Okay, I was 18 at the time, but still, nearly 30 years later, I still think "Wow".

WOW that is one of the more improbable stories I've heard.

I bagged my philosophy high school teacher, way back then. It would have never occured to me now though.

My ex-wife and I went camping on an island over in NC, Fontana Lake. Via kayak. A friend of hers (her future husband) visited with a power boat. We took a ride. I saw two other kayakers. This was rare in the late 1980s. So when we got back, I took off in my kayak to meet the other kayakers. Leaving my soon to be ex wife with her soon to be husband.

The kayakers were a brother and sister taking a trip. I chatted with the brother for a while. The sister was silent. Ran into them again the next day. Exchanged contact information.

Immediately after that, my missus took off with Mr. Powerboat. Papers filed and so on. I'd been in touch with the brother. He indicated the sister was interested in kayaking. Which was a lie. I invited her over for dinner. She kept coming back until she stuck. She's still here and there are more of us.
