Woggle Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I don't normally like reality shows but I must say that I love this show. I am shocked that a major network even put it on the air because you almost never see anything other than the normal men=bad women=good point of view. I love how this guy just schools these women and tells them how it is. Props to VH1 for having the guts to put this show on the air.
quankanne Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I've got a mixed opinion after watching two episodes of it tonight: the host is a smart cookie, I like his advice, I like his approach. For a guy, he's able to communicate good common sense that is actually constructive criticism. Points for him. a couple of the women are ordinary average gals with ordinary average problems, and you see the growth they experience along the way, esp. when they take Steve's (the host) advice. the two oversexed brunette bimbos – one a former dancing twat/whatever the PC term is, the other a needy, greedy twat – have got to be the hand-chosen special needs children of the group. The money-grubber finally came clean why finances were so important, but she's missing the whole point when she says she wants a man with money so that when she gets left behind, she has something. Ummmm ... that's when you get off your azz and get a good job to support yourself so that you don't NEED to depend on someone else to care for you. But I digress ... while there's an interesting spectrum, I think having any kind of focus on the two twatty types just makes it look bad for all women. likewise with the metro/gay guy they had as part of the peanut gallery viewing the "sexiness" factor of the contestants. Um, how can someone like that give an honest assessment of "sexy" if they're rooting for the home team? the show wasn't half-bad for an MTV/VH1 production, but I still think it misrepresents relationships, and anyone who thinks they've "identified" those types of women are either misogynists or live in their parents' basement still. Women don't just fall into these select categories the show presents. woggle, you really need to start meeting real live WOMEN under normal conditions, be it at work or school or church or at the store. There are many decent people out there, if you just look for them. They're not 99.897 percent harpies!
