Mandapanda Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 *ahem* So I went to a new Gyno today reasons being: 1.Before I moved from Chicago to Tucson I was told by my old Gyno that I needed to have a Leep, that I had cancerious cells (this was after he gave me a colposcopy due to the fact that my pap came back abonormal and did not like the results of the colposcopy) so he wanted to double check with a Leep but since I was moving in less than a week , he told me to get one ASAP when I get settled down in my new town. 2. I have been bleeding for over a month and having lower abdominal pains during sex Due to family history and certian medical conditions I have I am at high risk for both Ovarian and Cervix cancer which Bleeding/pain is a sign off. I went to the new Gyno's office today; telling her I was considered due to these problems.... First off, she came in and looked/acted like she was messed up. Her eyes looked 'weird' and she couldn't think of words (she would say something three times before getting it right Example 'you dont need a pap, i mean leep i mean dnc') Then she told me she did not think that I needed a leep (even though she had the papers from my old Gyno telling her tha he did not like the results of the previous test, and wanted to double check) She told me that the bleeding/pain COULD be associated with a cervix cancer BUT she wants to wait it out to see it it goes away She then told me to come back in 4 months to have a Pap (I have not had one in over three months which she had the papers saying so) and my old Doctor due to my conditions wanted me to have one every 3 months (which was also in the papers) all of this seemed odd, esp the 'lets wait cancer out' Should I look for a new gyno?!
melodymatters Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 YESYESYESYES !!!! You know you should ! I always believe the patient needs to listen to their own gut, and stand up for themselves with their Gods..I mean doctors, but in THIS case, HELL yeah !!! Don't wait either, this could be a matter of YOUR life or death !!! Good luck !!
Tony T Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 See another doctor immediately and report this one to the State!
josie54 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 You absolutely must trust your doctor and feel that he/she is listening to you. This one is obviously not. You must take charge of your own health and find a doctor whom you trust, particularly when something abnormal appears. I'm not sure how you found this new doctor, but I'd suggest you ask friends, neighbors, and/or co-workers for recommendations of gynecologists they trust, and then choose based on the strength of their recommendations.
quankanne Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 get a new doctor. You two are on the same team to keep you healthy, and this chick doesn't sound like she's a very dependable team player you're being asked to trust your girly bits with!
Author Mandapanda Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 Thanks so much, I thought I was over worried and jumping to conclusions! It feels so nice to know that I'm not alone!!!!
