I am 24, and its been over a year and a half now. There was a short little one mixed in there (three months but we hardly ever saw each other) so I'm not counting that.

How old are you guys and whats the longest amount of time you've ever been single? After you first started dating of course.

lets see...44 yrs minus 3 yrs marriage = 41 single years

of course this does not count dating/relationship thru which i am still technically single in the eyes of the IRS

30, and lets see I was single for the first 23 years, then single from 27-30 or so. Don't sweat it.

Alpha I know you like to keep your posts short and sweet but I wasn't refering to "irs" single, I was referring to anything outside of substantial LTRs.

almost 2 years between relationships 1&2 (i.e. between age 24 and 26)

4 months between relationships 2&3 (at age 31)

(i don't count going on a few dates/ONS to be anything at all)

I'm 23 and just got dumped after 3months of seeing someone, but that wasnt a proper relationship and other than that I've had no relationship so pretty much from birth til now i've been single:( hahah

I am 20 years old. I have been single for approximately a year and a half -- 2 years if you don't count my last relationship which only lasted about 1 month.

Hmm, I started dating around when I was 17, had my first " semi- serious" relationship when I turned 18, and pretty much dated around after that. I'm 19 now, so I've been single - minus the ONS- 9 months at the most?

3 weeks since I was 17. 3 weeks and 2 days since I was 15. :p

I will be 24 in June and I just have started actually trying to meet girls again. Out of college I thought I was in love with the girl I would marry--and then she cheated on me. It broke my heart and I suppose I needed all year and a half to get back to myself.

Still haven't gotten into anything serious at all, but I am ready for it now at least...

I am over 35- and I have been gone up to 4 years being single.

I don't care much. I certainly have had lots of dates- and sex is available if I want to go that route. I've also dated people for short periods of time- say 2-3 months. At my age- 2 to 3 months is just a blip.

It's hard to discern between dating and relationships sometimes.

I "saw" someone for 2 months and never really cared if it was going anywhere.... But I also "dated" someone for almost 3 months and fell madly in love with him.

I'd say I was single 4 years at my longest. I had sex and a few short lived flings in there- but nothing substantial.

I'm 23 (as of today!), I have two dating gaps, both roughly the same amount of time ~1 year, 3 months single. Not a big deal though.

Lets see I'm 27 years old and I started dating when I was....wait a second I haven't started dating yet.

I'm 35 and dated my first BF for just over a year so......

Three months where I didn't accept any requests to go out after dumping a seriously jealous guy. After him, I needed some peace and quiet.

I'm 36, until I was 31 I was in serious relationships continuously. the last 5 years I had 2 relationships that counted for anything but apart from those I have been pretty much single. lots of one night stands and flings basically

By single, you guys mean not dating anyone, but possibly going on dates here and there... right?

I'm 22 and have never been in a relationship, and it's been 2.5 years since I went on more than 2 dates with anyone.

32. ~ 3 to 4 years i reckon (not recently)

I think "single" is sort of a soft concept. What about divorced people? Dating? Non-exclusive dating? I bet technically most people here on LS are either married, separated or divorced.

Which means they're not really single anymore, ever.

I have been in committed relationships ever since I first started dating, and my first serious relationship in which I loved the guy started when I was 17. I have almost always had a boyfriend since my first, with the exception of almost a year in my early 20s, when I chose to be single for a while. I ended my 4th serious relationship 6 months ago and resolved to be completely single for a year. So, a year is the longest I've ever been single.
