Jaytb Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Every 5 minutes on LS there's another age thread and more bickering back and forth ensues. Tell me, is it that bad that there's some men that date younger women? Is it also that bad that some women date younger men? Your choices ultimately come down to you, not other people on an anonymous forum, so let's stop all the worthless bickering, ok? Of course there's delusional people on both sides, so what. Ignore them, focus on yourself, and move on.

Ignore them, focus on yourself, and move on.It's the Loveshack man, what fun would it be if we all agreed and didn't do a little bickering and disagreeing. The age thing is an age old argument:p, so I see why it goes on. Topics that have no right or wrong answer typically result in such posts on any board, but is particularly apparent at the Shack given the topics. Just the way it is.
Trialbyfire Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I don't know about everyone else but I don't care that people have their dating preferences. I just don't like the ridiculous nature of their justifications for doing so. There's no need to bash on women 30 and older. It's only a form of self-leveraging, denial and if I were to call it, pure and utter b/s.
manugeorge Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 HA!, and you just added another thread to the mix, jokes on you:-P. But seriously, It's a messageboard, people come here to seek advice and air views, right or wrong, trivial or not. It's the debate that makes it all interesting/entertaining. If one topic doesn't interest you, simply skip to one that does. This is why I enjoy coming to LS. It's always something, even if it's been debated a million times.
Author Jaytb Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 HA!, and you just added another thread to the mix, jokes on you:-P. It's just like Prince Charles flying on a private jet around the world to warn everyone about global warming, isn't it? If one topic doesn't interest you, simply skip to one that does. This is why I enjoy coming to LS. It's always something, even if it's been debated a million times. I actually enjoy some of those threads occasionally, it's just getting so tiring because people make the same generalizations over and over and over again. Nothing really changes about them. I don't know about everyone else but I don't care that people have their dating preferences. I just don't like the ridiculous nature of their justifications for doing so. There's no need to bash on women 30 and older. It's only a form of self-leveraging, denial and if I were to call it, pure and utter b/s. No need to bash men 30 and over either, right? And if you don't care about their preferences, why do you care about their reasons/ justifications? Do you think there should only be legitimate reasons for having a certain preference? Because along the same logic, a lot of other dating preferences are just as ridiculous.

The last year has been one long misogynistic gender, age bashing session. Some of us are fed up with the b/s being spouted. You claim to be tired of it but are adding another thread to the mix, disputing the validity of why women aren't happy with the comments. Realistically speaking, most of these women wouldn't give these kinds of guys the time of day in real life, due to pathetic attitude more than anything else. Is this why these inept men are here on LS, trying to get revenge? How childish.
Author Jaytb Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 So you can only see one side of things, right? ? I can see both sides of this debate. What I don't get is why people drone on and on and on about it. The last year has been one long misogynistic gender, age bashing session. Some of us are fed up with the b/s being spouted.Which year? There's plenty of bs, that's for sure. But it goes both ways if you haven't noticed. You claim to be tired of it but are adding another thread to the mix, disputing the validity of why women aren't happy with the comments.Did I say women? Realistically speaking, most of these women wouldn't give these kinds of guys the time of day in real life, due to pathetic attitude more than anything else. Is this why these inept men are here on LS, trying to get revenge? How childish. You know what, if you ignore them in real life, then ignore them here too. And by the way, do you really call that revenge? I certainly wouldn't. And yes, I added a thread to the mix. Think of myself as a scientist infecting myself in order to study that disease that I infected myself with.
CommitmentPhobe Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 There's plenty of bs, that's for sure. But it goes both ways if you haven't noticed. No it doesn't, and you've failed to notice. You appear to have noticed when I've had a go at the mysoginistic dweebs though, funny that. You know what, if you ignore them in real life, then ignore them here too. Re-arrange this sentence. Pot, black, kettle, calling.

Isolde Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I think dating someone your own age +/- 5 years is undervalued in general. With all the older men going for younger women, and older women going for younger men, everything is thrown off balance and everyone will be ultimately worse off, in my opinion. It's one thing to fall for someone with a big age diff, and another to specifically go after the age diff. Just my opinion.

It is never an ideal situation, it can only make you question the reasons why.

It's just weird that people care so much about other people's preferences that they have to bash all members of one gender or the other when someone says something they don't want to hear. I don't know if everyone is worse off because of 40 year olds wanting to date 20 years olds, but don't think people normally care that much about it.

If every 40 year old man or woman wants to date a 20 year old, who will the 30 year olds date? Think about it. But you're also right in that people are way too freaking sensitive that they have to resort to gender bashing.
justme2781 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 people post because they want advice for people who have been in their same or similar situation . . just like ALL of the other threads we cant help it that there are argumentative know it alls, i still want to hear sound advice. love is tricky.
treyfan88 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Oh my! I can't say much, not having been here that long, but there seems to be a lot of bickering on this board. Can't we all just get along?

But you're also right in that people are way too freaking sensitive that they have to resort to gender bashing. the 40 year olds would be severely delusional if they think all 20 year olds will just throw themselves at them. If they want 20 year olds, let them. (and not all will). They might end up alone or hurt. They'll just have to accept the risk.

If they want 20 year olds, let them. (and not all will). They might end up alone or hurt. They'll just have to accept the risk. Yep. I'd imagine the majority of those relationships have a use by date. But it's really up to the two people to decide if they want to do it anyway.
pollywag Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 But you're also right in that people are way too freaking sensitive that they have to resort to gender bashing. Well let's put it this way, if all you ever read around here was that 20 something women are nothing but dingbats good for a lay and don't have a chance in hell at love because they are useless pieces of asses, and you started to see more and more posts of fragile women in their 20's starting threads like "I am useless and feel useless at 21" I am sure you would reach your breaking point too. If abusers can have a voice than so can we. I hate seeing young women who have everything going for them being affected by the a handful of degenrates that thrive on abusing women on this site, and my natural tendency is to retalliate against poisonous people who are only there to inflict pain on those who are already hurting. Since some of us women are not hurting and in a better emotional state we choose to stand up for those who are not. I see nothing wrong with that.
Isolde Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 If such threads were posted I'd just laugh. it's not that I don't feel for the women hurt by gender threads, but how can anyone take blanket statements made on a forum seriously, given that one possesses even a modest amount of empirical and vicarious evidence? ie, I know 23-year old women in happy loving relationships ie, I know 35 year old women just getting married, etc.

Some people can walk by a weaker person getting bullied and just keep walking and look the other way. Others can't, they feel the need to do something about it. No biggie, just different ways of approaching things.

Just because I choose not to argue at length with every single age thread doesn't mean I don't feel for women whose feelings have been hurt as a result of said threads. I just don't understand how anyone could take these threads to heart. Now if it was people IRL telling them the same things, I would be a lot more upset.
