isn't it just new age psychology that says that?

No.

When was the last time you were sucking a lemon in a corner and got approached?

People check out what they like.

Mostly looks. I sometimes find myself checking out guys and girls on the subway because people are the only view worth looking at when stuck in a moving box.

You should just knock them down and start kicking them. Then people will start noticing you.

Body language (how you carry yourself) and looks (and how you dress) both correlate. Confident body language obviously.

Others get checked out more OP because they are more attractive than you. Both inside and out. :)

Its "a look" more than "looks". Everyone knows the person who attracts attention like crazy, but is really just polished. And everyone also knows the person that no one notices until they see her/him by chance, and then notice the quiet attractiveness.

I noticed alot more attention when I died my hair blonde. At first I enjoyed thinking I was especially attractive with it. Then it occurred to me, maybe the turning heads, were merely guys noticing blonde, and looking to see IF they were attracted. LOL I think probably. Think about it... (not singling out gender, but for example) ... cleavage will turn a guys head, before he has any idea if he's attracted.

Has anyone mentioned style?

I am not shallow; I don't look for it, but definitely take notice regarding either sex. Whether it's clothes, hair :o

Doesn't have to be fashionable, and can be indie-style, but I love people with style.. and confidence in their style.

Edit: Also take notice to exotic looking people.

;) It is unfortunate that I was being serious...

I asked a guy at work if he thought that confidence is what makes a guy check a girl out and he said "Hell no, I am STILL not checking out my wife's confidence." He agreed with my first post "nice breasts, flat stomach, nice butt."

I am told that I am "the whole package" - beauty, body, polished, and refined. I get checked out all the time.

I haven't been asked out on a date in nine months (except by married men who somehow see me as being receptive to being a plaything)...

Lots of looks but no action. :(

Awww, that's too bad. I went through some dry spells myself. It's kind of frustrating.

While I've been complimented on my appearance, men have also complimented my posture, how I carry myself, and my handshake. Confidence and an "air" is definitely something real men "check out."
