MindoverMatter Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Sorry, but for me you didn't get your point across very well..I know what you mean and I agree, everybody has a preference and if can state it without insulting anybody, then it's all fair and good. But putting rape and general dating preferences in one category is just ... off. You wouldn't compare being a picky eater with not wanting to drink poison, would you? It's the same principle.
mental_traveller Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 In California, if you're an 18.1 year old BOY and have 100% consentual sex with a 17.9 year old girl, and her parents press charges, you can (and will) be convicted of statutory rape. As a result, you'll have to register yourself as a sex offender. Fun, right? That "rapist" is NOT on par with someone who's violent. Rape is forced sex against the victim's will. What you cite is simply voluntary sex with a 17 year old and her 18 year old boyfriend. Obviously that is not rape at all.
mental_traveller Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 If someone does not accept someone else because of their past behavior, or doesn't approve of their past behavior, whatever it may be, and decides to not give that person a chance or views that person as not fit for a relationship with them, why shame them for passing judgement? Of course everyone passes judgement. What matters is what they pass judgement on, and why. Passing judgement on someone because they wear blue sweaters is quite different to passing judgement on them because they are a genocidal dictator, and no one with any common sense would think the two have anything to do with one another.
mental_traveller Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I agree with Sam.. I never slept with a woman and had her consent, as I never asked. Consent does not have to be verbal. When I order food and eat at a restaurant, I consent to a commercial contract exchanging food for money, despite neither me nor the waiter or owner/manager verbally agreeing to this.
Jersey Shortie Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Using rape to prove a point about judgments...utterly ridiculous. Having a preference for fat or thin or short or tall and someone in the past having raped another are not even on the same spectrum or scale. You failed to make any comprehensive point here Mr. Dream.
jadelil25 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 No way. It would not matter when I found out I would get away as quickly as possible. I have been sexually, mentally and physically abused by someone a lot older for 18 months and that was bad enough. Rape is worse and people who do it should never be let out on the street again.
