Bells Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Okay, I actually, (So far) was able to correspond with a woman on a dating site....got her regular after we got done talking. She's a freelance writer...she brought up the subject of unemployment and the recession. She asked me what I did (I'm self employed, just like her) And she goes, "Yeah, hard to find work these days" Then she asks, "So how do you feel about dating the unemployed?" And I say, "Well, I guess you have to take it on a case by case basis, if you'r wanting to "budget" date you can always go on a picnic or hiking, as opposed to dinner and a movie. And she thought that was cool Then she asked me how I felt about dating unemployed women. And I said, "well, doesn't really bother me too much, no" And she goes, "Hm, I dunno, I guess it's different for women" And I ask, 'How so?" She says, "Well, I'm 45, no kids...and I would probably want a kid, but ....I guess I would like a provider." ( I bit my lip and just typed:) "Oh" And she says, "Sorry to get serious all of a sudden" ( I was thinking, 45 years old and wants to bear a child now and wants to be a stay-at-home mom at 45?) She stated that she dated 2 unemployed guys for 3 years a piece, and it was HELL dating them. Apparently they had the attitude, "Meh, I don't plan on looking for work, I'll just draw unemployment or federal aid." Then she asked me, "Should I be more sympathetic?" And I said, "Well, you have to take it on a case-by-case basis I suppose" Apparently she didn't care for the attitude someone has while unemployed. I mean, I was laid off a year ago, and had been self-employed for at time, and I imagine as a free lance writer , she doesn't get paid much. I guess as long as he's working it's fine. But made me think about the whole "I'm looking for a provider" statement. I'm thinking "Have to cross that bridge when we get to it." Anyhow, is this a concern for a lot of people these days when dating the "Unemployed/recession peoples?" Can you lighten up on people more so when your unemployed Heck, even unemployed have to date unemployed, lol. I started talking "What if it was the dark ages again, how would that work? lol I think she was saying that men don't care that a woman is unemployed, but women do.
alphamale Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I think she was saying that men don't care that a woman is unemployed, but women do. yes thats what she was implying...a man without an income is useless to most women. just like a woman without breasts and a vagina would be useless to many men.
