somedude81 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 A couple of my lady friends are currently "talking" to some dudes. Frankly I don't really have a clue what talking means. I have 3 different examples. Girl A has a boy she likes and he may like her too. They haven't really hung out together or done anything physical. They are just talking. Girl B likes a guy and he likes her too. They've hung out a couple of times and have had sex. She says she's not with the guy, and claims that she's single but the fact that she likes him means she won't go out with anybody else. She says they are just talking. I hung out with a girl at least once a week for the past 3 months. Have great conversations, go on "dates" together but nothing physical happens. I liked her and she liked me too but not in that way. Was I talking to her but she wasn't listening? In my future journey though life if I run into a girl that says she's talking to somebody, how should I take it?
confused_2008 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I hung out with a girl at least once a week for the past 3 months. My opinion is they're all keeping their options open. When they can, why not? Girls love to talk. Combine that with talking to guys they may be able to have a relationship when they so choose and it's pure gold.
Lindarose84 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I think Girl A is the only example of what I'd view as "talking". Girl B is doing the casual sex thing and your situation with the 3 month girl was just "hanging out". Talking is just that, talking. Just feeling out the situation before you actually decide to start dating. It involves nothing physical. Just my opinion since I've done the "talking" thing quite often.
alphamale Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 "talking" = "sleeping with" or "about to sleep with"
Author somedude81 Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 No kidding. WTH? My thoughts exactly. It does seem to be a win win situation for girls. The win if they are only buddies with the guy and they also win if they have sex with him too. I think Girl A is the only example of what I'd view as "talking". Girl B is doing the casual sex thing and your situation with the 3 month girl was just "hanging out". Talking is just that, talking. Just feeling out the situation before you actually decide to start dating. It involves nothing physical. Just my opinion since I've done the "talking" thing quite often. I'd view girl A is just talking also. Girl B's situation confuses me. I guess the next question is What is casual sex? Is it something that happens after talking but isn't dating? "talking" = "sleeping with" or "about to sleep with" That also makes sense. It sounds better than. "Oh John and I are just having sex." Wait isn't just having sex but not dating friends with benefits? What would have had to happen for me to start talking to the third girl? If everything was the same but we were making out would would that mean we were dating, talking or neither. What if we were having sex? What if we were also hooking up with other people?
chrislovestosurf Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 "talking" is what you say when you are immature or in high school/college or both.
Author somedude81 Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 Well I'm in college and so are all the girls I know. So I need to know the lingo.
RecordProducer Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 A couple of my lady friends are currently "talking" to some dudes. Frankly I don't really have a clue what talking means. I guess they are trying to talk them into going out with them. The status "going out" wil not be defined in this thread. Girl B likes a guy and he likes her too. They've hung out a couple of times and have had sex. She says she's not with the guy, and claims that she's single but the fact that she likes him means she won't go out with anybody else. She says they are just talking. Ask her: "Are there any people in this town that you're NOT talking to?" Was I talking to her but she wasn't listening? In my future journey though life if I run into a girl that says she's talking to somebody, how should I take it?ASk her: what are you talking about? Seriously though, I think it means being just friendly, without starting anything, yet you can't call it friendship because there is something going on. In the case of girl B, who actually slept with the guy, it means he used her for sex, and now he's just keeping her in reserve for future booty calls.
D-Lish Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 It means she is open to others... Any woman that has her mind made up about a guy will tell you she is "seeing him" at the very least.
Bells Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 It means she is open to others... Any woman that has her mind made up about a guy will tell you she is "seeing him" at the very least. Yeah, it's also a line women use to say they unavailable to date others. "I'm talking to someone now, so I'm seeing how that goes first".
Jersey Shortie Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I think it means that they are "talking" to said guy and getting to know him but that it's real causual. I don't think it means they are sleeping with him. I think a girl would say that when she isn't sure about the interest level of the guy in her or if she isn't really sure about her interest level in him. I've said it in regards to not being sure about the interest level in a guy that was interested in me. To downplay it and take it slow. I would try paying attention to how they say it and what tone of voice. Is it an excited " Oh so I started talking to this guy!". Or was it a "I am sort of talking to this guy". Tone of voice can matter.
neveragain2493 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 The people I hang around/talk to use 'talking' ALL the time, so I might could help you out here. For me, 'talking' is basically what it sounds like. You're talking about dating or feeling out the other person before you decide to date them officially. As for casual sex, I never associated it with 'talking'.. Sounds like they're just having sex to have sex.
