Got me thinking-how do you make friends?

Hey everyone! I am in need of some advice. My boyfriend and I went on a date last night and saw the movie I Love You, Man. If you haven't heard about it here is a quick synopsis: Man gets engaged, doesn't have any close guy friends to be his best man at his wedding, his soon to be wife is worried, he tries to find a best friend in time for his wedding so that he can have a best man. And a bunch of other crazy adventures happen.

 

So this is what got me thinking. We left the theatre and my boyfriend says to me: "That is almost like our relationship, only flipped!" He wasn't trying to be mean. But he is right. If we got married in a few years (which we have talked about) he has about 6 guys that he would want to be standing by his side during his wedding day. He has a great close group of friends. The problem is that if we did get married, he would have 6 guys standing by his side and I would have 2 girls. My baby sister and my best friend...which I am not complaining, these two are extremely close to me. What worries me is that I don't have friends. I have my best friend, who lives 3 hours away with her husband while she finishes college. She is an awesome friend, don't get me wrong, but I don't have friends around here. I always feel like I am invading when I go out with my boyfriend and his friends, almost like I am the clingly girlfriend. I am not trying to be, the boyfriend says that he doesn't like leaving me home while he goes out. He probably feels bad for me. It isn't like we live far away from the town I grew up in, as a matter of fact we live less than 20 minutes away. I don't talk to any of my friends from high school anymore, since there was a lot of drama when I moved away for college, and I ended up seeing who was going to stick by my side when times got rough...and that was my bestie that I met my freshman year of college.

 

So does anyone have advice on how to meet friends? I am 22 years old and I never have girl time(shopping, getting nails done, just going out for dinner with my girls). I am always with guys, and I feel that they don't want me around all the time. I need to find friends, but don't know how. I work a full time job and a part time job and I am also a full time student (but everything is online) I have time to hang out with friends...I have every weekend off.

 

So how do you go about making friends? I tried at the gym, didn't work. I work at a dental office with about 6 other people (small office, we are a close group) but everyone has kids and when I ask if they want to go out, they can't. I don't know what to do. I feel lonely and I feel that I am driving my boyfriends buddies insane. Oh all of his buddies are single, except for one and his wife doesn't care for me(we are total opposites). i don't know what to do, but I am tired of being the clingy girlfriend, especially since I am not trying to be. Someone help!
