I'm trying to be tough and have been much better lately in regards to what will happen in a week's time. Yep, he's moving out and so am I, after 10 years of togetherness. Why can't I get to sleep? Why am I still awake, my mind is going round and round about the same darn things?!!? There aren't any answers to my questions, there aren't any solutions to my constantly obsessive thoughts about my stbx and his new woman. My appetite has returned somewhat, I have future plans of moving into my new apartment next month, excited at the prospect of .... what??!! O dear lord, I need some sleep. This is a semi-vent but does anyone have any suggestions on how to turn the brain off and get some much needed zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's?

I remember going through this when my husband left. I used to take over the counter sleeping aids but not regularly. It will get better in time but you have to find other things to fill your head and time with. Helping people less fortune than myself and prayer usually helps me. It has been a year and a half and I am in such a healthier place. Wouldn't take him back for anything in the world.

Yea! First off "recurit" your not getting enough physical activity in your daily routine, so you need to get out there and hit the "dusty road" be it jogging, running, walking ~ whatever. Do it on a tread meel if need be!

You! At the start of your day need to get anaerobic exercise as opposed to aerobic exercise into you life and routine. That means "pumping" some iron. Lifting weights. Not running, not walking, not riding a bicycle. Pumping iron. Lifting heavy objects, doing manual labor, lifting heavy things. That depletes oxygen from your system. You gals are into aerobic exercise to burn off fat that comes from eating carbs, (starches from potatoes, pastas, rice.)

If you want to lose weight? Lay off the carbs and do anaerobic excercise.

The next thing is take your happy self down to China-Mart, (WalMart) and purchase some heavy type material to cover to your windows in your sleeping quaters (forget it being pretty and girly ~ just make sure it "blackens out any outside lite from the windows), then duct-tape any LED light from fans, the alarm clock ~ the effect you want is that you can't see your hand in front of your face! That is to say ~ ZERO light!

While your there? Buy yourself some fans ~ you want it cool not cold. Idea would be a ceiling fan. If you live in an aparrtment ~ have maintence install it for you, (just know that you will have to leave if behind when you mind ~ so don't spend too much money on it. Make sure its reversable so it blows down on you during the summer, and up during winter.)

Buy a noise machine that makes sounds like its raining, a thunderstorm, a rumbling brook, crickets. If you can afford it buy one of the more expensive ones than they sell at WalMart ~ they last longer.

Buy bookoo pillows, comforters, dowm mattress toppers etc. The more expensive the better ~ you don't want to cut coners here. You want your bed to be the most comfortable place! You want to fall into bed feeling "Yum~Yum!" All snuggly and as though you were in your mother's arms as a baby!

Go to the vitamin section of WalMart and get yourself some melatonin. It comes in 3 mmg, 3mg and 5 mg. Its natuaral, over the counter, non-prescrition, non-addictive and within about 45 minutes will help you fall to asleep. It will quite your thoughts, your worries, make you yawn, eyes tear.

Difficult situation for sleeping if you are still together, the sooner you split the better.

When you find yourself thinking obsessively about the stbx try to turn your thoughts to a place like a beach, an island, an ocean, a mountain top, a meadow, a lake, somewhere quiet, and serene where it is just you, &, try to focus on the beauty of the location.

Also, try deep breathing relaxation exercises, in through the nose for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds, out through the mouth for 5 seconds, (repeat until you suddenly wake up the next morning).

Avoid OTC Sleep Aids, (addictive, &, poor quality sleep).

Listen to what Gunny has to say, he is right on the mark,

"White Noise" is the desired sound effect that you require, &,

Melatonin works great, (and you do not need to take increased quantities, it works best at lower levels), you wake up feeling rested, (dont forget the exercise).
