385 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 First off, I'm not really experienced with dating and all so forgive me for sounding stupid. Anyways, so I've been dating this girl for a couple of weeks and it seems to be going pretty well. We've been on several dates both formal and informal and have had a good time. But we haven't hooked up yet - which is ok for now I guess. Now, I'm not that insecure or anything, especially when I'm around people, but sometimes, when I'm by myself studying or just thinking about stuff, insecure thoughts pop into my head. And right now I'm thinking, how do I tell if our dating is going to turn into a relationship or will it turn into us being friends? I mean we haven't hooked up, but we've been close to it - but heck we haven't even made out yet. So here's the question. How do I tell if we are becoming friends or if we are becoming lovers? So far it seems to be on the lover path because she wants to hang out with me and stuff but I don't know, I think hooking up (or at least making out) will seal the deal and let me know that she wants a relationship. So ladies, how do you let guys know if you want to be just friends or lovers? Like what would you do differently i.e. body language, communication, etc... I mean I have a lady friend and we text/im/talk to each other every day, but I know we are friends and nothing will happen. So what's the subtle difference between being friends and being lovers?

Holding hands, running my fingers through his hair, hugging, holding onto his arm when we're walking, cuddling when we sit on the couch together, and definitely kissing. You say you haven't "made out," but have you at least kissed at all? How is it when you do kiss? If you haven't at least kissed - WHY NOT? And after several weeks, I would hope that you're at least getting some tongue action. I think a kiss can tell you a whole lot about level of attraction. But then, I'm a total kiss person. I LOVE kissing.
