Trust has become a casualty

You'd have to be living under a rock not to know the reason a lot of us won't deal with dating services, is because too many people have abused the system... posting fake profiles, stringing people along just to see how many hits you can get and then turning them all down, etc etc.

 

But for me, it's deeper and more personal than that. I was given no love when I was lonely and desperate, and I learned the very hard lesson that knowing exactly what you are looking for, and saying so, is too businesslike and logical. It's OK to stop trusting the system, but my lack of trust has extended to women in general because of it.

 

Nowadays I'm still trying to find the right one, just not through dating services thank you. But I'm afraid deep down inside, that I'll never really be able to trust anyone 100% again, even if I meet the woman who was meant for me. I will never be able to shake the sneaking suspicion that she'll never really love me. I guess being snubbed for too many years can do that to a guy.
