9Lives Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Sometimes I am so stress and I need to learn how to relax more. I deal with people all day long and by the end of the day. I AM so stressout and drained. Can someone give me ideas on how to relax and what to do to relieve stress
Jeshua Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi there, thought it'd be nice to start here answering a post after being a lurker for a while. Have you tried working out? Give yourself some personal time to pamper yourself, either by working out or relaxing in a spa or taking a salts bath. I personally live out very stressful days, I practice Aikido and Karate at the end of each one. I can certainly say they help me sleep better after all the stress has been washed away.
knaveman Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Exercise, yes. I walk my dog twice a day for at least 45 minutes. It's a nice easing going walk around town. It helps that I also have beautiful scenery to look at. Sometimes getting into a structured workout routine can be just as stressful as what you are trying to relax from. I say, next time you are feeling stressed or tense just go for a nice long walk, don't take a phone or music player or anything. Just be alone with your thoughts. Kinda like meditation only moving.
Frankasy Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hmmm well for me smoking is the number one stress-killer. I smoke whenever I'm in stress and a lot too, it sorta gets you out of your current self, it makes you see things from a different angle and it clears your minds, opens your eyes(Meaning that you see complicated stuff for example better). Other than that I suggest spending time with a pet, especially a dog or cat but sometimes birds do the trick too. They're nice, caring and lovely and make you feel wanted.
blind_otter Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Breathe. Really, take 5 minutes every few hours and take long deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth. It sounds stupid but a lot of people don't get good oxygen intake because of bad posture, and they will unconsciously breathe shallowly while stressed out. Just google "Diaphragmatic Breathing".
fral945 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Other than the pet idea (which has already been mentioned): 1) Sex (or masturbation if you are alone) 2) Exercise (running, yoga, weights, cardio, etc.) 3) Listen to music (lighting some candles or incense, too, helps me) 4) Read a book (fiction type that you can lose yourself in) 5) Play a music instrument (assuming you know how to play one)
botham Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 The best way to get over depression and stress is to get to the root of the cause that why you have that feeling. Alongside keep your self busy with things you like doing. Changing your schedule also helps sometimes.
Mr. Lucky Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 2) Exercise (running, yoga, weights, cardio, etc.) What works better than just exercise for me is competition. Whether tennis, basketball, ping pong or monopoly, there's something about losing youself in the game that, win or lose, is a real stress buster for me. Although the sex tip wasn't bad either ...
