Haruka Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I live in a small community where everyone knows everyone and their business. The other day my mother was in the bank when a friend of my boyfriend's mother and aquintance of my mother came up to her and since the room of the bank is rather small, the woman tried to say in a low voice. "Congratulations are in order, I heard Haruka is pregnant." There apparently was five other people besides my mother, the friend and bankteller and my mother felt rather small and told her firmly that she had it in good authority that she knew I wasn't pregnant and wanted to know what her source was on this supposed pregnancy. The woman embarassed as well, said she heard it from my boyfriend's mother at a party. And that most of these people of the party heard it as well. So now everyone has their tongue wagging about my supposed pregnancy, if it was someone that was "normal" then it would have been fine, but since I have a wasting muscle disorder and everyone knows that and my boyfriend has bi-polar so of course apparently the others in the bank gwarked at my mother when the woman announced I was pregnant. It is embarassing and I wonder why my mother-in-law would spread such a vicious rumour about me. The only thing I can think is related is the time my boyfriend ejactulated in side me and he rang his mother to tell her what he did and I was going to get the morning after pill. The question still stands why would she do it? I know she and her husband like me, although they don't like that I'm lazy. It's just driving me crazy and I don't want to confront her as I don't want to spoil my relationships within that famly. What do I do?
