Art_Critic Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 420Honey.. it really isn't about whether or not we all feel pot is bad.. It is how it impacts YOUR life and how YOU feel about it.. Throwing a question about it being bad or not out there will draw both answers equally.. For those posters for the most part it depends on their use of it to whether or not they consider it bad or not. You mentioned in a post that you have never been interested in having a relationship.. How much of that thought process in the past do you think has been due to your smoking pot ?.. Only you can judge.. Denial is a multifaceted animal and shows itself in many forms.. Not seeing the connection in your own life with pot and lack of relationships could be considered a form of denial.. so could minimizing it's ill effects on those relationships.. Okay.. I posted more than I really wanted to as I didn't want to come across as trying to get you to quit.. that hasn't been my intention.. My intention has been to get you to look at your own life and it's effects with maybe a little different viewpoint.. I wish you the best and if a guy doesn't fit into your life then it is his loss..
sand26 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Actually, pot is better than booze. Alcohol deteriorates the brain at a much faster pace than marijuana, in fact little to no brain dysfunction has been linked to casual marijuana use. I smoke weed all day long and most of my friends do to, we are all very successful and most of my friends have children. I also live in southern california where weed is basically legal (police walk right by it). I have probably lost brain cells from weed, but not as many brain cells as my friends have lost from having kids. I mean, their conversations are now nearly "baby-talk", lack of sleep has them tired and groggy, and most of them are running low on funds because their little sack of crying 'joy' needs all their monies. Did you know it costs 87,000 dollars to give birth in the U.S.? Although my taxes pay for 80% of that (on average breeders only pay 15,000 dollars of it), then I (the taxpayer) have to pay for the kids schooling, and soon their health care too. People should stop having kids, there is an overpopulation problem and most people can't even afford them without taxpayers help. People should smoke weed and create!!!! That's right, CREATE! People have babies so they can have immortality and also so they can add "meaning" and "worth" to their life.... sad. Killing the world for selfish reasons, all because you could not accomplish actual works of true invention and creation. Smoke a joint and add to our civilization!! besides, marijuana is a multi- billion dollar business, that's a cash crop America should support not ban. And once we get the pharmaceutical companies out of our politicians pockets you will see drastic change.
missdependant Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 If you want unbiased info on marijuana, all you have to do is type "marijuana research" or "marijuana study(ies)" into google. Usually the results pull up information that doesn't demonize it... actually a lot of it seems glorified. The science community does recognize it as being something with a lot of potential. I was very against it when I lived in Arizona.. it is probably because the laws are very strict on it, and the government there does everything in the world to try and prevent it's use. After moving to Colorado, I have seen the light. I'm not a frequent user, but 99% of the people I've met here use it regularly. There are headshops on every corner, there are restaurants with marijuana themes and it is decriminalized. I have learned that marijuana users are just as capable of being useful in society as anyone else, and that they are equally intelligent. But I think I was pretty narrow-minded about it until I actually took the time to get to know a few stoners. I have decided that I like them more than my old alcoholic friends from Arizona.
dwightl Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Whatever drug it is if you use it the wrong way with the wrong dosage, it'll surely affect you physically and sometimes even mentally. Our body should get just the right substances, chemicals and medicatioin. If you don't need it for medication, then stop it. You said that you feel confident whenever you smoked one? Actually, it's your mind that says so because of that thing. Get rid of it slowly. It's just like smoking cigarrettes. It's just all in your mind. Let it go. And tell him as well about it. But I guess the better timing is when your done with pot smoking.
chrislovestosurf Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I have some seriously dank sour diesel, man that stuff gets me retarded, whole body numbness:love:
redfathom Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I am sorry about what you have to deal with, I know you don't want the "poor me" replies, but I had to say that. I know you said the other drugs were causing seizures, were there any others you could try? Those drugs are usually taken to change the chemistry of your brain so that you brian basically get's used to feeling a certain way. I don't know if pot can do that... Maybe you should go back to the doctors and see if there are other drugs you could try, I know it's scary and risky, but if there is one that could give you permanant "relief" it might be worth the try. Also, were you seeing a therapist also to talk through your concerns it's like a double program to help you. You should be proud of yourself, to pick youself up from the very worst and make something good out of your life, taking control...Good luck with everything!! Sincerely!
knaveman Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 It's only bad when you can't have fun without it. Kinda like alcohol. Kinda like most of the people I know.
Nicodaemos Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 No, pot is not that bad. Some areas of the US that I rode through when I was touring on my motorcycle it is legal to grow and smoke it. The biggest comparison that is has is alcohol. As far as I know, one cant OD on pot, wont happen, you just pass out in a stupor first. Alcohol though, can be very deadly. Some people try to argue it makes people lazy, stupid, and do dumb acts, like driving while stoned, or steal things. That is not the influence of the drug, its merely the person not being able to control themselves. I am for the legalization of it, and have no problem with anyone that uses it. I have spent much time around family and friends, as well as random people, that smoke, and most of them are perfectly fine. Just like sitting back with a drink at the end of the day most the time. Being that you only use it 2 - 4 times a week, it sounds like its being used similar to a fast acting inhaler for an asthma sufferer. Nobody, that has even the slightest idea anyway, is going to tell someone with asthma just to get over it. But, like has been stated before, pot has a stigma on it, and it will be a very long time till its accepted as widely as beer. You arent someone that just picked it up and started smoking, you have a reason, a very valid one, to need something to help you through the day. It is not a weakness, for not everyone can suppress things. I applaud your determination, and being able to look anyone in the eye that may even think of talking you down. Dont listen to any of it, cause its not true. So no, its not really that bad, just the misinformation is. Information is the most valuable thing in this modern technological world. Its also free and easy to get. Arm yourself with factual truths, and be able to prove it, and you will be a powerful force against the naysayers. You sound like someone any man would be proud to say they are involved with.
redfathom Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 You say it's not THAT bad, which means it is kind of bad...or you think it is which means it can't be a long term solution for you. You feel guilty about it and there will never be a right or wrong answer to your question. Should you let someone make you feel guilty when they have never walked a day in your shoes...but you have to think about what you want in the end. I think you have dealt with a lot and it will take a lot of time to deal with all of that but I think you might feel like you are settelling with the pot use and maybe it's worth pushing forward with something else. Every small step towards normallcy is huge! Some people are more prone to addiction so that would be something to watch for... But if you can get something that would help your problems long term that would be great. As for Xanax, I have that for panic attacks, it only works to calm you down from one and shouldn't be used to control panic attacks (prevent). You would need something else for that. Something like prozac is supposed to be used for around a year after you start to feel better...it's not instant. It could take years, but whats a few years to help undo emotional harm from years+++ of abuse. You do have to think long term. Everyone is different so when someone says pot was good for them doesn't mean it will be okay for you. Even if it takes your whole life to deal with this, just look at it as a whole life of improvements, which everyone should aim for.
blind_otter Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I personally have no problem with pot. I used to smoke it all the time myself. I quit without any issues or problems. It wasn't even like "quitting" to me - especially after I went through hell to quit smoking cigarettes. Some people are Ok with it, others think it is from the devil himself (yet, ironically, most of those people think alcohol is A-Ok, because the government says so ). You will find someone who has no issues with it. Good luck, I hope you find what you are looking for.
