I read something briefly about this the other day. It caught my eye while surfing the net, I forget exactly where it came from and like I said it was just brief and I skimmed across it.

It mentioned something about people who mock others, or mock things etc, COULD be a sign of Schizophrenia? Notice I said, COULD be, not that it was in fact. I didn't have time to really read the rest of it, but I think that's just odd, why COULD that be a sign? I would think that's just more of a sign of immaturity, not a part of a mental illness.

People mock others all the time, not that its right. They mock preachers, teachers, politicians, sports players, celebs, etc, especially in like skits on TV, that doesn't mean they have a mental disorder. I'm sure there was more of an explaination in what they were meaning about the mocking, I just didn't get a chance to read it all. I'm sure too, what they were meaning was maybe not these people who get paid to do it on TV , but people who do it out of meanness, I dunno.

Anyone ever heard of this?

Sorry JJ, I can't help ya with that.

However, I dated a guy years ago before I met my husband, who mocked some of the things that I said or did. It was in a hateful manner too not a playing manner, and I remember thinking, "What a immature child!" That's exactly how it came across too. Thank goodness that situation never worked out. As far as it being part of a mental illness, could be.

Well a lot of people mock GW Bush, but I didn't think it meant the voices were chatting to them. Interesting though - can you link the article or google search you used?

Exactly....

However, I don't have the link. I saw it a few days ago on the Welcome screen of AOL news. I should have posted something about it then, but I'm just now getting around to making a post about it. It basically just indicated there was some kind of link between the two.

I would be surprised if mocking people was a symptom of schizophrenia. My aunt by marriage is schizophrenic and I've never seen her do this under medication or not, which is more than I can say for myself and pretty much anyone I know.

Schizophrenia is one of the most misunderstood, feared and mocked mental illnesses out there, since there are multiple types of this illness, with multiple dramatic symptoms.

Yes, I thought it was a bit odd too. But something I notice, every time ya turn around it seems they are coming up with something new and/or different to go along with something.

For example one week a certain food or drink is gonna kill ya...then the next week its good for you.
