Isolde Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Unless it gets to the level where they are taking some sort of action, I don't see why you would let it bother you. Leering can be ugly, but I seriously doubt that every other guy that walks past you makes that twisty-mouth-drooling face. This is the kind of thing that everyone needs to be able to deal with.
Green Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 why are women always looking down between my legs even pointing some times. Can't a man walk around the bra and panties section of Sears with a boner in peace?

Green Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Are they laughing when they look? only when I wiggle it at them
Author spookie Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Some women will get all dolled up and then complain when men notice. Why do they do this? Is it a form of bragging, or are they really that unclear on cause and effect? LEERING at me when I am not doing anything other than appearing to look clean is a little much, don't you think? And I've noticed they only do it so outright in situations where they have power, ie, a fast food place late at night when I'm alone, the only customer. It's not nothing, and it's not my whining about being cute. I think it's creepy, and I'm know I can't be the only one it makes uncomfortable. I wish they'd stop.
mr.dream merchant Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 They just appreciate the way you look, something you gotta deal with. To be honest I go through this as a guy. Females won't leer at me but they'll take repeated glances when they think I won't notice them out of the corner of my eye. Its flattering and all but it doesn't really bother me, I mean if you look nice at least be happy that they confirm it.

Whenever i notice a girl leering at me like this, i'll usually say something to her. Not hit on her, but bring it to her attention that she is staring at me. It's easy to do being a guy, but i don't know how it would work for you...

Spookie, I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Men, I am not talking about a man simply noticing and admiring a pretty woman. I am talking about men who STALK you with their eyes. They stare at you, which obviously makes us uncomfortable, which somehow gives them a rise. It's creepy and weird. Once I was on a bus and this guy is doing that to me,and there is no where for me to look. I had to look straight down in my lap because he was staring so hard. It's controlling and invasive. Again, this is NOT simply a guy checking out a cute girl.
alphamale Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Why can't I go anywhere without getting leered at? try going out w/o any makeup and don't do your hair. wear sweats and smelly sneakers and walk around with a frown.

Again, this is NOT simply a guy checking out a cute girl. Yes. Obviously I can't know what's going on inside their heads, but those dirty half-smirks that usually come with the glances make me feel like they're imagining me helpless and nakeni; and not cause I'm cute, and cause they're men, but because the fantasy represents a power trip, their strength crumpling my frailness, their lecherousness staining the innocence (that they perceive) of my youth. I got that a lot at the strip club, obviously. I was fascinated by it, and though it made me sad, I understood it as a fact of life. But that's an appropriate setting. McDonald's is not.
kdark Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Haha. So it's welcomed only when it's in the appropriate place? I find it strange when the women in strip clubs leer at me too. But then again, maybe they are just staring at the benjamin stuck in my zipper.

My point remains that it's creepy and that as beings with some control over their behavior, men need to learn to refrain from this s!ht.
clv0116 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 .... maybe they are just staring at the benjamin stuck in my zipper. Well I never named mine, but if you're more careful you can avoid that sort of injury in the future. Do we have a stripper wondering why men stare at her when she's out in the world here?

Well it's possible you've wandered into a freakish population of perverts, but as an alternate theory might I suggest you dress, groom and behave modestly and see what happens?

calazhage Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Actually this makes sense now.. One of my exes was a stripper, and she would ALWAYS complain about men leering at her in public.. I think she was in such a crappy environment for about a year, that she simply started to get disgusted with men/people, etc..
kdark Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I didn't say it was welcomed. Just that it was understood. My point remains that it's creepy and that as beings with some control over their behavior, men need to learn to refrain from this s!ht. but here's the thing... WOMEN DO IT TOO! With men being the sex that usually has to initiate action, the leering is a form of trying to alleviate the pressure by letting you know in no uncertain terms, that yes, they are interested in you, and if you like them, they want a sign from you. It's passive aggressive and creepy, but some guys think that way. Now, I have first hand experience with that predatory behavior from women as well. And to be honest, they are even MORE bold and creepy than the men you are describing.
Author spookie Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 I don't think that's what this is. Ok, always is a stretch. I don't always get leered at. For example, in most professional settings, I don't get leered at at all. But... take away the boundaries of our society... and place me (or any other reasonably attractive woman) in a room full of men. Say... at Chipotle, right before they close, in Upper Middle Class Suburb, USA, which is the scenario that prompted this thread. I can be wearing sweatpants, no makeup, with my dirty hair in a bun (like right now) and I would still get leered at. My point is it's not me, it's them. But it's unfair that all these places are off-limits to me when I'm alone if I don't want to feel uncomfortable. MEN ARE PERVY.
tanbark813 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 If God didn't want men to check out chicks' tatas he wouldn't have given us eyes. Or them tatas.

If it was a guy I was interested in, I guess I wouldn't mind if he leered. I'd appreciate the clear signals, that's true.

That's ALWAYS true and it's why when girls say this guys just roll our eyes. You expect us to be mind readers. If you don't want the attention at all you have to be repellent. The less attractive you look, the less we will look.
carhill Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I am not wondering, I know why, it's cause they're perverts. Tell me, how much thought and attention do you give to those men who do not undress you with their eyes.... you know, the others It's all about signals
