championice Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 When can you actually call something a date? For example is saying lets go get dinner or coffee actually a date (with people you don't eally know)? Is it more confimed if the guy pays fo the meal?
BobSacamento Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 L O L what is this a game? Who give a cribbity crap?
stepka Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Well I must say that I've been wondering the same thing, but I guess it's when you get together in such a way that you get to know each other better while you're trying to figure out if they're a keeper. Movies, which seem to be a date, won't work unless you go out after and talk. That's my take. I don't think it has much to do with who pays--not these days anyway.
Green Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I took a girl out to dinner once, paid, and then after dinner I tried to kiss her and she said "is this a date?" and I was like "yeah!" I was actualy a little insulted and then she was like "good!" and then I was happy. The point is maybe it doesn't matter if you both went out to dinner a movie and then shared an icecream sunday if there was no romance. Thats why I always say that if you haven't kissed the entire time by the end of the time spent togather you need to atleast attempt a kiss
carhill Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 A romantic date is when a man requests the company of a woman he fancies for an activity or meal to be shared just amongst the two of them. They agree on a specific time and place and have expectations of an enjoyable time together. They think about possible intimacy (like the kissing another poster mentioned). They pay more attention than usual to their appearance and grooming. The man cleans the McD's wrappings out of his car . Dates are generally in the evening on a weekend, but can occur at any time. It's up to the couple to decide. Remember, request, specifics, agreement, special attention. IME, most dates don't go anywhere. A few lead to more dates. A tiny amount lead to relationships and/or marriage. Some lead to friendships but I've experienced very little of that. "Hanging out" with a woman is a great way to get female friends. This I know for sure Enjoy!
Agyeman Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I'm having trouble defining what a 'date' is also. I've seen this girl around 3 times now, and I've just got us tickets to see our favourite football team (she's unbelievably excited - as its her first time seeing them). But never once have I asked her 'out' as such, just said are you free to hook up sometime.

Really you have an opportunity to be romantic when you get her to spend time with you. Have you tried kissing her? have you made her laugh by being cute with her? have you held her in your arms? these are the things you should be doing don't worry about if its a date or not
stepka Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Oh yeah, and you flirt--I guess I never went out on a date with my future ex, b/c he never ever flirted with me. I thought he just didn't know how.

I really want to kiss her on the lips at the end of this date though, then arrange another date!
stepka Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 haha was it an aranged marriage? j/k lol No, just a really long friendship and then we got drunk one night. I really want to kiss her on the lips at the end of this date though, then arrange another date! Get 'er drunk. Well tipsy then. She probably really wants you to kiss her and is wondering why you didn't and if it's going to be one of those really weird friendships.
clv0116 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 If you have an appointment to meet at a specific time and place, it's a date.

This guy I've known for several years. We're good friends but there's definitely a spark between us. We've gone out for lunch (he always requests it) a couple times and coffee one other time. I guess you wouldn't really call that date-y...I'm not sure. It is great to hang out with him, date or no date.
Miss Ting Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I would say when there's a mutually shared objective of trying to get to know the other person...not just hanging out and passing time.
