Touche Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I didn't think that BEG was solely talking to me but if she was including me in her little HR comment, I'm not HR. Oh I'm sure no one would ever mistake you for HR. Come on now.
Saint Valentine Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 It's always been my experience that people who get defensive for no apparent reason have deep-seated, unresolved issues. The bottom line is that spookie is advancing up the ranks in record time, and there is no hidden agenda.
Touche Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Since you quoted me here James, I'll respond: I hope this works out well. And I hope that all of the so called "doom and gloom HR know it alls" don't actually have it right in your case. /QUOTE] I know they don't. They rarely do. Look, as I said I know HR having been in it. And it wasn't only in my last job. I used to work in HR long ago for a very large company you would all know the name of. I worked in HR in different capacities. Mostly in the 80's. I got out of it and started my own business for awhile. And then yes, I got back in it. I know the mindset and it ain't pretty. It attracts a certain type. Let's just say I never really belonged in that environment. Did I get along in it? Yes. Did I admire most of the people in it? No. But these are generalities based on my OWN experiences. Doesn't mean all HR types are uptight robotic, militant, a-holes with no sense of humanity, compassion or humor. Only some.
Trialbyfire Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Oh I'm sure no one would ever mistake you for HR. Come on now. Ha... (10 characters)
BlueEyedGirl Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I honestly wouldn't be suprised if 2 months from now spookie posts a thread titled "Jack kissed me"
Saint Valentine Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I honestly wouldn't be suprised if 2 months from now spookie posts a thread titled "Jack kissed me" Maybe they might even get engaged. Who knows? She could have the ring as her avatar, for example. It's got to be a possibility. For sure.
Touche Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Maybe they might even get engaged. Who knows? She could have the ring as her avatar, for example. It's got to be a possibility. For sure. Oh come on! That's just crazy talk.
BlueEyedGirl Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Well, who would have thought that she would get a promotion out of this.. And Jack said "we have a good working relationship and I would like to keep it that way", which is not really that strong of a rejection if you think about it.
Touche Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Well, who would have thought that she would get a promotion out of this.. And Jack said "we have a good working relationship and I would like to keep it that way", which is not really that strong of a rejection if you think about it. So that would make you think he might be interested? What does a guy have to do in order for you to know that he's not - hit you over the head with a bat?
JamesM Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Well, who would have thought that she would get a promotion out of this.. And the more I read this, the more I wonder, too. Why the promotion now? Is SG right? Or is this a simple coincidence? The timing is peculiar. But I suppose to mention this would be a sign that I am a two faced cunning HR person.
Saint Valentine Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 So Jack is still on top, but there is a good chance that somebody else will come under spookie. That would put her in the middle, with potentially double the pleasure.
BlueEyedGirl Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 So that would make you think he might be interested? What does a guy have to do in order for you to know that he's not - hit you over the head with a bat? He does seem to like her just not enough to do anything in this setting and risk any complications. But this is NOW and situations change and evolve constantly, who is to say that in a few months time spookie won't get a boyfriend and he will realize what he has lost? I mean it's possible.
Saint Valentine Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 When Jack and spookie go for these private chats, she should check if he keeps both hands above the table.
Touche Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 He does seem to like her just not enough to do anything in this setting and risk any complications. But this is NOW and situations change and evolve constantly, who is to say that in a few months time spookie won't get a boyfriend and he will realize what he has lost? I mean it's possible. Yeah, it is. And then he might attempt suicide and end up in the hospital where Spook will come and visit him only he'll be in a coma and won't know she's even there. But then he'll wake up and they'll fall in love and live happily ever after. I mean like you said...anything is possible, right?
BlueEyedGirl Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Yeah, it is. And then he might attempt suicide and end up in the hospital where Spook will come and visit him only he'll be in a coma and won't know she's even there. But then he'll wake up and they'll fall in love and live happily ever after. I mean like you said...anything is possible, right? Yes, but my scenario is more possible than yours
Saint Valentine Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Yes, but my scenario is more possible than yours Agreed.
Touche Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Yes, but my scenario is more possible than yours I guess at this point, after what he said, I think it's just as ridiculous as yours. Even Spookie sees that at this point. It does sound like he likes her though.
Saint Valentine Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 It does sound like he likes her though. They have way too many "private meetings" for it to be a coincidence. He's grooming her to be his future wife.
Storyrider Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 They have way too many "private meetings" for it to be a coincidence. He's grooming her to be his future wife. Then she will have to stay home from work.
Touche Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Then she will have to stay home from work. HR might call her in and write her up for that though.
Saint Valentine Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Then she will have to stay home from work. Sure. The wild, bareback sex will give her life new meaning. Even HR is bound to notice the bulge eventually.
BlueEyedGirl Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I guess at this point, after what he said, I think it's just as ridiculous as yours. Even Spookie sees that at this point. It does sound like he likes her though. For the record I'm just joking, I do think she should move on.
Touche Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 For the record I'm just joking, I do think she should move on. You almost had me going, BEG.
allina Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Hi spookie, congrats on the raise and promotion Sorry it didn't work out romantically with Jack, you live and learn, and thankfully your platonic and work relationship wasn't damaged. I personally do think they value the work you do. They probably think you're a bit nutty but but you're good at what you do, it pays off having you. And what's the issue with mocking people in HR? I work in HR and I'm pretty happy with it, I'm also not a "bum" as someone suggested. Professionally I think a "bum" would be someone that was handed a "job" in their husband's practice though they never seem to do much work
johan Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Professionally I think a "bum" would be someone that was handed a "job" in their husband's practice though they never seem to do much work Calling someone like that a bum would be a compliment.
