Alright, so I'm really into magic. I love to do card tricks, coin tricks, any tricks really. I'm still learning, but I know a fair amount. I learn magic because I like to, but I also feel like it might be a good way to impress a girl. So my question is... am I right, or am I wrong. Will I seem like some geek, or will I seem impressive?

I understand it probably depends on how well I perform, so here are two videos I have previously recorded and uploaded to YouTube.

One of those isn't much of a trick, but hopefully you'll agree that I don't suck. Should I use my magic?

Thanks!

i can see it being a great way to break the ice or catch her attention. eventually you still gotta qualify yourself as relationship material (if thats what you're looking for).

There's a reason people make fun of the kids at magic camp... lol, would side on the geeky side.

Don't get me wrong, being a geek rocks, even as my gf reads this over my shoulder she is laughing because I play world of warcraft, so thats about as bad as it gets!! We all have a geeky side, fact of life, and most girls expect it and its kinda neat. Just don't over do it, but a magic trick here and there, sure to impress!

I was thinking "geek" when I was first reading the thread...but watching the videos, that's kinda cool! But then, I don't consider myself to think like the majority of females. LOL You'll have to wait and see what some of the others say. But from one female - I liked it.

Thanks very much for your input. And yeah, I don't mean it as something to continually impress (I only know so many tricks). I mean more as a means of catching someones attention in the first place. In past experiences I have found that once I get a girls attention, I don't have much trouble keeping it. For me, getting the attention is the barrier.

I understand what you mean. I'm not a super magic nerd or anything, but I do really like to learn tricks. Its always fun when you can do something that seems impossible.

To SoulSearch_CO:

Thank you for your input as well. I had a feeling that without a demonstration it may seem geeky. Personally I feel like it should impress people because to do a trick well requires skill. That said, failing a trick is a great way to show incompetence lol. Regardless, I guess this is probably just something that will vary from person to person. It is probably the case that the girls that like it are the ones I should go for so that should work fine. =)

Thanks again to everyone who replied!

Anyone who puts a lot of effort into a hobby like that will get women. Its an amazing party trick, and if you can entertain a crowd of people doing trick after trick, the women will flock.

I love it! I have always been completely dazzled by magic.

Have to be honest with you, I've never seen a magician that doesn't come across as cheesy and insincere. Sorry. You may be the exception but have yet to see one (except Derren Brown who can have any woman he wants :D)

It's a good thing. But don't use it as your ace card. In fact, anything you're good at becomes more powerful when you don't draw attention to it at first. Instead, you let come out/happen naturally.

I could have become a musician. But I went the traditional way and got a real job. But I didn't give up on music. I'm not as far as what I could have been if my next meal depended on it, but I'm alright for a hobbyist. I don't mention I'm a musician unless the topic goes there, or someone else brings it up, or a chick comes to my place and sees the guitars, drumset, piano, and various recording/studio gear. Then I'll casually say, oh yeah, I play, and maybe I'll play them something.

Sorry, but being a musician is generally considered more "sexy" than a magician. But even then I don't bring it up cold. I mean if I go to bars and go hey, guess what pretty girl, I play guitar. Now unless she has a guitar fetish, it's not going to work nearly as well as if I let her "discover" that fact about me.
