Going away to finish school, and moving out of our place

I am with a great guy, we've dated for six years and although we have some problems like being too busy with work and school we have a good relationship, but, I need to work on my goals to make sure I am happy with myself. I want to finish college and that means going away for awhile, and we live together... I don't want to break up, but I need to achieve my goals, and he doesn't want to go with me. He works with his father, they own a business and he can't leave. I am close to transfering and have my groundwork for my degree, and he doesn't even want to talk about school, and it is so important to me. How do I get through to him?

You're both young and working on your futures. Who knows what the future holds.

 

His career is focused on the family business while you are focused on college/university then career.

 

Perhaps in the future when you paths are more in line, he is about to take over the business and settle down and you are finished college with a 1st/2nd job under your belt; this relationship may be on the same path again.
