Hughesy Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 my ex the local bike has contracted gonorrhoea according to her friend who i was talking to last weekend, i just can't tell you how elated i am that this horrible woman has gotten her just deserts. we split up six months ago after she had cheated on me with several guys and girls, i got myself checked out and was clean. according to her friend she took the break up hard and has gone off of the rails completely, and that she wants me back. her friend asked me if i'd reconsider before she told me about the std and i laughed and said no and then she told me about the gonorrhoea and i laughed out loud to her surprise, needless to say she said i was evil that i shouldn't be so bitter about the fact some cheap bike broke my heart. she has a point.
Geishawhelk Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Human maybe, but sometimes, however tempting it is to gloat over somebody's past catching up with them and biting hard, it's still unkind and somewhat mean. I have an ex that fell on such awful luck, nobody would have blamed me if I'd turned round to him and told him "serve you right" but it just wasn't the kind thing to do. OP, I appreciate your thinking like that, but it doesn't make you 'more', it makes you 'less'. Just my PoV.

Seems like she has a lot of room to talk here. Geisha is right in a way, though. While the temptation to point and laugh is always going to be there, the mature thing to do is shrug your shoulders and let her worry about her own problems, while you do the same. I really wouldnt feel any differently if my ex got married tomorrow than I would if she got dumped and cheated on. She's in her own world, and I'm in mine, and truth be told - I wish everyone well, even if they wish me the opposite.

The word for that is schadenfreude! It's human. Not nice, but human nonetheless. Let's face it, we humans aren't all roses and butteflies. Don't think about it too much. I doubt you'll have to repent.
