My friend from work just informed me a bit ago that is getting a GPS tracker to put on her husband's car to find out about his whereabouts. She knows something is up and yes her gut tells her something, but she wants real proof. I told her I thought most of those trackers were illegal but wasn't sure.

My question is, if there are people on here that have used those devices, did you get the info you wanted? Is it worth the investment to get one? She did say they can come with software where you can see it online but was afraid to install it for fear he would find it, because it might be on the whole computer to see.

How about a digital voice activated recorder? Wouldn't that be better?

The system has to be exposed in order to work. Meaning if there is metal above it it isn't going to pick up properly. Batteries need to be changed often unless it's hardwired to the car's electrical system. GPS that track in real time are quite expensive. The less expensive models would need to be retrieved then downloaded.

She could put the software on a friends computer though, that doesn't seem like a big downfall. The DR will not give her locations if that's indeed what she wants.

Some PI's offices offer DIY catch a cheating spouse kits which may include GPS for rental rather than having to buy the equipment.
