So my friend and I were talking about a man friend of mine named Chad who is about 12 years older than me. He was a former co-worker of mine while I was in an internship at a local Elementary School and he was a substitute teacher. We hung out and got drinks occasionally and we text and chat all the time. I've never really questioned his relationship views because he was just a friend. Now he likes me and wants to get to know me "better" but I have a boyfriend that I don't plan on leaving for him.

However I was telling my friend about him and she says he sounds like a man whore because he tells me he's very cynical. He's 30 and has only slept with three women, all of which he dated for extensive periods of time. He said he believes in romance and really likes to spoil a woman but doesn't like that fact that when he does so it leads to expectations in the relationship that eventually lead to him wanting to get out. He doesn't believe in marriage because too many women today expect their man to be a sole provider. He told me that if he could have it his way he would either be single [only occasionally going on dates but not being serious with anyone] or he would find a girl who was as low matienence and cynical as he and that he doesn't have sex with the women he dates because he doesn't want them to get attached to him but would like to be relatively sexually involved.

Plus he once told me [in a cyncial moment] that he wished he would have went into the escort business with all the married women that come to him looking for the romance they've lost in their own relationships.

Oh really? In what century? Because it certainly isn't ours.

3 sexual partners does not exactly a whore make :)

Well I don't know he told me that when he was 22 he dated a girl for five years that was 6 years younger than him and she was really reliant on him and even though he likes to be romantic it comes to be expected and then it isn't fun anymore.

He often refers to it as the "buy me a house, pay for my car, give me kids" aspect of life. That people get married for reasons, that aren't love.

My friend says Man whore. I thought maybe he was just a cynical person who genuinely wanted dating and such without relationship commitments. I've just never met a 30 yr old with that philosophy.

PS: Also mentioned he wasn't interested in changing for a woman and all women required change or believed that getting into a relationship was about changing the other person.

A man whore? A man whore is a guy who sleeps with anything that has a vagina without caring about disrespecting himself or garnering a bad reputation, much like a traditional whore. This guy has only slept with 3 women...how can he be a man whore?

No but my friend doesn't believe he's only slept with three people, I do well because he told me that was how it was [not the best of reasons] also she said man whore more because he says he wants to be sexual with women [without actual intercourse] but also without any real commitment.

There used to be a man whore on my team. Because of him, we all would cover the toilet seats with protective paper when we went. That guy had a whole ecosystem of disease living on his groin.

OK, so I'm a man whore too :D

Seriously, OP, actions define us. I think we have a LS'er who doesn't want to have sex with women and only date them once. Is he a man whore?

I don't think so, but my friend may think different.

I believe the definer for my friend is this:

The LSer only wants to date them once and not have sex BUT does he want to be sexually involved with them in other ways excluding intercourse involvement. My friend wants to do sexual things just not intercourse because it "makes people attached"

With mega respect, you're attaching too much significance to a vagina. Remember, to think like a man, you have to be one. :)

Attachment might obtain for you and your friend through a vagina (meaning intercourse), but that doesn't necessarily obtain for a man.

Therefore, a man who approaches sexual relations with women with such specificity as you described would not, IMO, be considered a whore :)

Adding: Commitment phobic? Perhaps. In need of counseling? ;)

He sounds like a borderline pedophile. You're 18(!!!) and he wants to date you. He dated a girl who was 6 years younger than him when he was 22...that means she was 16(!!!!!!!!). He's in education...this guy is no good.

How did you possibly get drinks with him? Were you having a sprite or was he giving you alcohol? If so, he's a creep and needs to be booted from your life.:sick::sick::sick::sick:

I'm confused. He wants some sort of sexual connection with women but without intercourse, because he just wants them attached to him?

Is he a closet gay guy that's trying to put up a front that he's straight by having all these women attached to him? Because I believe I speak for most guys here, but I want intercourse.

Whatever he is, he's not a man-whore. You friend is wrong with the terms.
