sedgwick Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Get this: I was buying some furniture today from a girl I found on craigslist. I had called a "man with a van" service I also found on CL, and he flaked out and stood me up. So I had to find someone else last-minute, and I called another guy with a van off CL, and when he showed up, he was hot! I said so to the girl whose furniture I was buying, and she said, "I know!" So he drove me back to my place, and we started talking about music and dance. Turns out he's a guitar player in a rockabilly band and HE KNOWS JOE. We were talking about our exes (he recently broke up with the mother of his child) and he said, "What a dumbass," when I told him about Joe. Before he left he asked me for my contact info "to invite me to shows," and a couple of hours later he sent me a (really funny, correctly spelled) email saying it was nice to meet me, he hoped to see me soon, and then there was a list of all his upcoming gigs. I think I maybe, maybe, MAYBE would out with him if he asked. But do you guys think he was showing an interest? I need a male perspective here!!!! I absolutely did not expect this!! My best friend is all over me to go out with him, and told me today she wants to kill Joe and can't handle me putting myself down anymore and hiding instead of living life. And tonight I actually went out, to a show where there were musicians in the audience (dancers onstage), and I sat in the very back corner and left pretty quickly after it was over. But I went! I did it! I haven't gone out just for fun in a really, really long time. On V-day last year, a good friend took me to a hotel and we spent the night having room service and watching movies. I cried over Joe most of the night. Two years ago we had a great V-day together, and it was so painful to remember. But this year I'm better than last year. I still love him, but I think maybe today was progress.
Citizen Erased Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I think he sounds interested but I also think you're not ready for anything serious. But this sounds like the perfect opportunity to have some fun and move on a little. The fact that you even consider him to be a hottie and would go out with him is progress. Go to some of his shows and have some fun. You're far too intelligent, creative and all out wonderful to be burying yourself away from the world.

That's the first step. I'm not sure I could ever trust another guy, but I know I need to at least start going out and being social.
