In an effort to help our marriage move on from some recent speedbumps, I'm planning a surprise for my husband for his 40th Birthday in April.

I've planned a special trip for us to New Orleans from Saturday-Tuesday (his birthday is on a Monday). I've booked our flight, reserved our hotel, and made reservations at a restaurant for his birthday dinner. I contacted his boss to arrange for him to have two days off of work and have hired someone to watch our pets.

I plan on waiting until the night before the trip to tell him we are going! Anyone have a great suggestion on how to tell him? Want to do something fun and creative!

I was thinking about buying him a guidebook to New Orleans and bookmarking some of the pages, highlighting and making notes about places we'll go... For example, bookmarking a page that mentions our hotel and writing a note saying, "Can't wait to snuggle with you here..." Thought about wrapping the guidebook in a box filled with beads, Mardi Gras coins, a mask, etc...

Can anyone think of a better idea?

Thanks for the help!! :)

Tell him that he is officially kidnapped for two days.

Try some costumes in the SF department. Show another way to eat a mars bar.

What does he like to do for recreation?

Thanks Heroic! You only turn 40 once...

I just thought that it might be a nice way to reconnect, you know? We had quite a year in 2008-- We got engaged, moved to a new town, each got a new job, bought two cars, got married and bought a house...

All traveling (other than our honeymoon) has been moving/wedding/family related... Time to have some fun togther.

We've been having a rough time lately...and even though we're having a hard time getting along, I want to show him how much I love him... :)

Last year we were maried 8 years. We flew to Vegas for a hiking vacation. On the first day out there we went to the Valley of Fire just north of Vegas.

My buddy met us there. We found a beautiful spot. I dropped down on one knee and asked her if she would marry me all over again.

When she said yes my buddy appeared with a veil her best freind had made for her a computer with her freinds filmed as mp3's in bridesmaids dresses giving their blessings and a song written about our courtship written by a long term freind.

My buddy performed a rededication cerimony Elvis style.

A fun little time in a most amazing setting.

Play a game of charades with him. Where a sexy outfit with no bra. Get a lot of beads necklaces. Give him the necklaces and have him throw them to you as you do a strip tease. Don't forget to flash him. I would even have your body airbrushed. paint Put on some new orleans jazz music. Fix him a dinner of dirty rice, etuffe and jumbalaya (with sausage). This is an off shoot of the old "how to please a man" scenario. You know "come naked, bring food" Of course feed him before you get naked. I just always like to think about the naked part first.LOL

So have you told him yet?

Nope, not yet! I'm going to tell him the night before we leave, so I've got a month or so to go. :)

I would think setting everything up, then leaving a note directing him to do something that gets him on a plane by surprise would be good. Telling him to surrender.

Also, the tease.

1. Tell him you will not engage in genital sex for 5 weeks. Don't tell him why and do everything else you can.

2. During that period, get a clitoral hood piercing and whatever else stirs your fancy. Become nicely smooth and bare.

3. Think of a different theme for each day and night that caters to his tendencies. For me, the 50s seductress works. The schoolgirl. The shy librarian. You probably know or can guess these. No warning, just pop out of the bathroom in character and costume, keep it up until you go to sleep at night.

4. Find the most appropriate places to eat. Different each night. Food and love go together. Barbecue shrimp. (not really barbecued). Crawfish etouffee. Turtle soup. All those things. If you want this at home, you can simply hire me - we did Country Captain tonight, golden browned chicken chunks.

5. On the way home, join the mile high club.

He'll remember that forever.
