tina01 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I have a friend who makes fun of my family and discreetly tries to imply jokes toward me. . . I'm trying to figure out:confused:, in this stage of the friendship, if this is just simple silliness or ignorance. We are way too old to be making the jokes she makes. She does other irritating things too, that make me question our friendship. Can someone list traits or characteristics of envious friends. . . Thanks;)

You can always gauge a real friend if you know that she/he has your best interests at heart. If you tell stories of happiness, observe how she reacts. If she's also happy for your own sake, then she's not envious. That's how I am with my pals and vice versa.

I'll add that there's a fine line between cutting up and teasing friends or hell even a slight roasting versus negativity. Wouldn't worry about it. Create distance with this friend and make a new one?
