are all men like this or only the dysfunctional ones?

Do most men do the push-pull dance so predictably? Since I broke things off with my ex after our brief ill-fated "reunion," he's pulled yet another 180. He keeps telling me how much he loves me, giving me tearful hugs, asking whether we can one day get back together.

A week ago he was ready to pull the plug and hardly seemed to care about whether he'd ever see me again. I almost find it humorous how predictable his behavior is. The more begging he's done, the less I've respected him and the more firm I've felt in my decision. How can I respect somebody whose feelings are so disingenuous and shallow?

Then again, maybe this just means that I'm falling into the same trap as he is. It's easier to leave somebody knowing that you were the one to cut the cord.

I guess I just want to believe that most people aren't like this.

Men who do the push/pull are ones who are addicted to the chase and in many ways are commitment phobes.
