prettybaby Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 What if the girl you've been dating for a while told you you look really good? Would it give you the flutters or is that just a girl thing? lol I've never actually complimented his looks even though I think he looks insanely good, but I don't know how guys actually perceive such compliments.
anne1707 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 As long as it is genuine then I think most would like it. He might be a little embarrassed (but in a cute way).
confused_2008 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Who doesn't like genuine compliments from someone they are interested in?
Geraltt Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Compliments are nice - who doesn't like being told that they look good? - but the best ones are really specific. "Wow, your butt looks great in those jeans," or, "Your hair really looks good today," or "Your eyes are the colour of dewdrops on the first day of an Alaskan springtime..." OK, the last one, maybe not so much. Point is, the more specific the compliment, the better it's received. At least, that's the way it works for me.
zhsoj Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 The only woman to compliment me was my mother. So I'm going to vote no on this one.
Author prettybaby Posted February 8, 2009 Author Posted February 8, 2009 The only woman to compliment me was my mother. So I'm going to vote no on this one. That doesn't make much sense. Care to elaborate?
Illiandra Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 throwing a random compliment to a guy is definately a good thing, just dont go overboard and say something like, i love your blue eyes its like an ocean that i would love to get lost in ha! From my experience saying something like i love your shirt it looks great on you can work wonders or if he has an amazing body just say his body is nice... then again one of my gfs constantly has to compliment her bf because he is insecure and when she doesnt he flips out,, so if the guy is normal then thats fine, but if he is insecure or full of himself then complimenting him can lead to speed bumps down the road
Lizzie60 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Men love compliments just as much as women do..
Lizzie60 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I would add.. that a small compliment, sometimes goes a looong way. I've made compliments (with no ideas in the back of my head) to MM.. but it changed the whole 'platonic' relationship.. they became, all of a sudden, very much interested..
runner Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 i don't think it would give me flutters but compliments are good. don't hold them back ! (which reminds me, i probably could be a bit more complimentary myself)
Trialbyfire Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Oh lord, haven't you paid him the ultimate guy compliment yet? Guys love to hear how good they look! On the otherhand if it makes them preen and ask for more, you've got a shallow guy on your hands.
OpenBook Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 What if the girl you've been dating for a while told you you look really good? Would it give you the flutters or is that just a girl thing? lol My past BF's usually reacted with (in one form or another): "Great, when can we have sex?" :D:D
Geraltt Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Oh lord, haven't you paid him the ultimate guy compliment yet? Guys love to hear how good they look! Funny, I don't think that at all. Really. Now, if someone complimented me on how I can drive like Nigel Mansell, how I can play the drums with the finesse of Neil Peart and cook like Gordon Ramsay, then I just might have to break my vow never to get married again. Different' strokes, I suppose.
Oliveman Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I think she was asking if a guy would feel the same as a girl when complimented. The answer in my opinion is a definite no. I know she likes me and is attracted to me or else we wouldn't be dating. Guys think in a much more logical sense than girls do. Not saying I don't like to be complimented or that I don't appreciate it, but it doesn't make my night. And I've never gotten "the flutters" if someone told me I looked good. Like the guy a post or two above me said, I'd much rather get a compliment on stuff like driving or being able to fix stuff or pick up heavy things then be told I look good. Bedroom performance is a different story though haha.
Still Trying Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Tell him he has a big penis. We love that even when you're lying.
anne1707 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Tell him he has a big penis. We love that even when you're lying. But you NEVER think we're lying :D
Still Trying Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 But you NEVER think we're lying :D baby, I'm average at best. I know a lovely lie when I hear it! And a lovely lie it is!
likestolaugh Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 frankly it gets a bit annoying paying complements to a girl only to never get anything in return. Even if my complements towards her are genuine, it's still nice and only fair to hear something back every now and then....
drutten Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I love compliments, especially the misguided ones. I once had a girlfriend who thought I looked great in a tight-fitting shirt, even though I have the torso of a starving chicken. My reading of that was that she must really love me to be that deluded, and that made me feel closer to her. What really makes me sick is giving a compliment and then having it rejected, as in her being dismissive and disgusted. (This was with someone who did not love me.) And, no, I wasn't being poetic. I just thought she had a cute nose. Apparently she did not agree.
