O'Malley Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Why aren't very attractive and educated men, (or any men) throwing themselves by the thousands at female serial killers? Ruth Snyder and Karla Homolka had male 'groupies'. Jason Moss contacted and met male murderers. There are simply fewer female murderers for certain mindsets to fixate on. Some of them believe they can rehabilitate the person from his behaviors and make him a non-dangerous (but still dominant) alpha male. Others relish the excitement of contact with a violent individual without any chance of physical harm or intimacy. It's heightened by the fact that the murderer can focus his attention solely on them, with fewer distractions. Taramere's post sums it up well.
dreamergrl Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Suddenly the movie Serial Mom just came to mind.
Taramere Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I was going to post a scathing reply as to the point of this thread. I think the OP just hates women and wants to vent. Calazhage... if your really that bitter towards women, go gay, or move to a place where they are still 2nd class. Taramere... You pretty much redeemed this thread. I think that was very insightful, and I want to say thank you for posting that. I actually learned something. Thanks UF. I also think the Peter Sutcliffe link is interesting. It seems as though the women who were writing to him were all involved, to some extent, in the official investigation of him. Perhaps they got overly wrapped up in their work. Re the OP, yes. I agree with you. Who wouldn't? Serial killers and the women who write to them make interesting subjects for discussion, but there's a definite creepiness about someone becoming preoccupied with the notion of serial killers attracting "hordes of beautiful women after them". It also seems something of a far fetched fantasy (consider, for instance, the photographs in the link I posted about Peter Sutcliffe's groupies). I found the link Star Gazer posted very interesting. It makes sense that women who have been abused themselves would seek to form attachments with killers who are safely locked away. Most of us by now know what Stockholm Syndrome means. The attachment and loyalty that hostages form to the hostage taker. The logic of creating an emotional bond as a means to keeping themselves safe in a situation they have no control over. By forming some kind of relationship with a convicted serial killer, women who've been abused in the past can experience the familiarity and excitement they associate with being emotionally close to an abuser, without the physical risks and penalties attached to it. Denial, which is probably plays a very strong role in their psychological make-up, prevents them from too much (or any) contemplation of the horrendous reality of what these men have done.
socialight Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 a certain segment of the female population is simply insane or cannot pick a decent man to save their life, just as a certain segment of the male population has awful view of women that will prevent them from ever having a successful relationship. There are nuts on both sides.
Author calazhage Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 http://truecrimes.wordpress.com/2007/12/27/the-night-stalker-richard-ramirez/ Here is a link in which women have responded to an article about Richard Ramirez.. lisaj66 Says: May 2, 2008 at 5:49 am I can’t understand the women that flocked to court. This guy is CREEPY! Delilah A. Says: June 28, 2008 at 2:45 pm I have been writing to Richard for quite a while now and find the way his mind works, to be normal in terms of him now. He was never declared insane, because, he is not. He is very smart and very much like us “normal” people, besides the crimes he commited 20 years ago. I am his friend and feel that yes, he is where he deserves to be for his criems, but i feel like we cannot changed the past, we can only learn from it. I never judge him and never found him creepy. He is a sweet guy, and even criminal profilers have trouble with him. Janet Says: September 24, 2008 at 7:41 pm Well I guess this is what I think about Richard… I dont know him personally YET…but I have just sent him my first letter.I am somehow intreaged by him, I am kinda in the same situation as delilah aldama. I just cant wate for him to return my letter!!! Call me CRAZY or whatever you want but we all have our own poinion….and this is mine!!! Shilelagh Says: January 8, 2009 at 9:56 pm I think RR is a really deep and fascinating person, and he’s got such beautiful eyes and killer bone structure. So many serial killers are all fat and out of shape. So anyway I totally want to write to RR but I’m afraid he won’t like me and he won’t write back or something. I mean I guess if he’s stuck in jail on Death Row and has nothing else to do he might read my letters. Do you think he’d like me?? I want someone to like me. Anyone would be fine. If he writes back to me I think I’ll just die Jeannie Carr Says: January 18, 2009 at 6:59 am I would like to writr Richard Ramirez, does anyone have his address? soka Says: January 20, 2009 at 8:01 pm hello i wanted to ask the persons whom have already wrote to Richard if they could possibly give me the address..please send it to
burning 4 revenge Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I havent noticed all these good looking women doing this stuff. Most of the women who get involved with inmates after theyve been incarcerated that ive seen were quite...unattractive...and usually not that bright. This leads me to think these women are lonley and having some sort of romantic attachment to someone infamous probably brings excitement to their dreary existence Men do it to. Theres a little cottage industry on the internet setting up penpal relationships with female inmates
Author calazhage Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Actually the women writing and fawning over the better looking killers, Scott Peterson, Ramirez, Ted Bundy were really hot. Read what some of the girls wrote on the message board. I think they are getting wet just thinking about him.
Touche Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Yeah I know, what's the deal with this? I mean, I've killed only three people, and I can't get a date anywhere!! It's maddening. They all must have high standards or something. </sarcasm> My guess, these women are fraught with issues of their own. Or they're doing this for fun. I don't think a lot of this is serious. (in other news, Drew Peterson's hot new girlfriend just moved in with him. Now she's wondering why she can't get life insurance.) Huh? I thought she just broke the engagement and moved out. As for this topic I don't really have much to say about it. It's something I've wondered too. These are sick and twisted women. But not as sick and twisted as the men they're interested in having a penpal relationship with.
Jaytb Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Huh? I thought she just broke the engagement and moved out. whatever. someone did something and blah blah blah.
AlektraClementine Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I actually knew a woman (used to work with her) who did this. She didn't go after serial killers but she went through a website that had inmates posting personal ads. here's my take after evaluation her situation. She was a very unstable woman. Alcoholic and had to have her scotch every night. Her marriage of 15 years ended in divorce because her husband turned out gay. She had 2 children. A mess of a house. Very reckless. Anyway so she writes to this inmate 10 years younger than her and struck up this relationship. It fulfilled her because she had someone to write to and who wrote her back (he had plenty of time) and who she could fixate on and fantasize about this perfect relationship with. Now, his motivations were different. He was a conman who found someone to bring him stuff in jail. He had a home waiting for him when he got out and he had someone to help fill up his 22.5 hours of free time in the day.
scared_hope Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 serial killers are just other people. thats kinda like saying why do so many women love blind people? except different but with the same concept. women love to feel loved, hear nice things. And often men that have been locked up for awhile will write/say anything that can lead to hearing what they want to hear...which is related to a more sexual side. thats my thoughts.
Star Gazer Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Richard Ramirez... That's so crazy. He killed my nextdoor neighbors when I was a child. And 15 years later I just so happened to see him at San Quentin.
burning 4 revenge Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 That's so crazy. He killed my nextdoor neighbors when I was a child. And 15 years later I just so happened to see him at San Quentin. Is this true? Id like to hear more about this
Star Gazer Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Is this true? Id like to hear more about this Yes, it's true. First, in early (February or March) 1985, he killed my Grandmother's second-husband's sister's (my "auntie") neighbors. (Did that make sense?) I used to visit my auntie all the time, and even recall seeing the crime scene tape at her neighbors' house. The victims were a couple, and apparently in the process of killing them he took out the woman's eyes. A few months later in July of 1985, he killed MY neighbors, an elderly couple - Lela and Max - with a machete and then a gun. The night of, I saw a shadow of a man walk by my bedroom window. The whole experience traumatized my childhood. Then in college I was taken on a tour of San Quintin (long story). As soon as I entered the yard (moments after signing my life away - they will not bargain for your life in the event of a melee or kidnapping), I saw a guard escorting Ramirez to the visitaton room. He was wearing a navy beanie and sunglasses. He lowered his sunglasses and looked right at me, not at any of the other 25 people I was with. Scariest moment of my entire life.
Lizzie60 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I heard that too.. and believe that those b*stards get that many love letters.. insane.. About those women.. they are either, machosists or they have a 'missionary soul' and believe they can change them.. Whatever reasons.. these women are just as crazy..
Woggle Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 The more of a scumbag a man is the more a certain type of woman wants him. Look at how Charles Manson got all those women to commit heinous crimes for him and he is one of the ugliest people on the face of the earth. I guess they just know how to get inside a woman's head.
Cherry Blossom 35 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Why do you ask, OP, are you thinking of becoming one? Would that improve your love life?
dreamergrl Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Actually the women writing and fawning over the better looking killers, Scott Peterson, Ramirez, Ted Bundy were really hot. Read what some of the girls wrote on the message board. I think they are getting wet just thinking about him. Just in quotes you posted alone, there were also plenty of women who were not interested in the serial killer. I think some may do it to gather information, one mention writing a book. Some may find a certain aspect of the man sexy. The rest just have their own problems.
Taramere Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Why do you ask, OP, are you thinking of becoming one? Would that improve your love life? Dear FBI I can very loyal and discreet with the right person or organisation. I've read Silence of the Lambs from cover to cover, and I can assure you that while I would most definitely fall in love with the FBI, I am well aware (and well able to cope with) the fact that the feelings would not be reciprocated. Love from Taramere.
