PrincessPeach Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 wondering this after looking through the "Why do people day i love you to each other after a week of dating??" thread. So if the person you are dating says "I love you" to you, but it's too early for you to want to say it back, or you just don't feel that way or able to say it yet, what would you say back to them instead? What would you say to him/her if it was only a week into the relationship? Would it be any different if you were six months into the relationship? A year?
runner Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 this hasn't happened to me (thank g-d), but this is what i would do: i would look at her intently and smile, and if i really meant it, i would tell her how much i enjoy spending time my with her. then i would explain to her that it takes me a little while before i start getting comfortable with the ILYs - which is true - and if this bothers her then she'll just have to deal with it. i'd probably be a bit miffed at this point though
doushenka Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 If it's too soon, not a "never ever" thing, just talk to the person you're with and explain that you need time. If you know you don't feel the same way and probably won't with time, though, I'd get out of that relationship in a hurry.
