You'reasian Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Dear LS Community, A single male friend of mine is trying to find a creative way to meet women. I suggested that he take up ballroom dance lessons - afterall, women tend to enjoy dancing and have noticed that they greatly appreciate a man who dances well - especially the quality of being able to lead them and have fun. Is this a good suggestion? If so, why?
socialight Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 not a lady but go with salsa over ballroom. more social, easer on girls, and more adaptable.
jerbear Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Good suggestion only if the classes are on a university and your friend is close to that age group. Tell him to choose his classes wisely. There are women but not all classes have the right women. If your friend chose a professional, the place I went to recommended partners, so not all places are the same.
Author You'reasian Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Ballroom dancing and salsa dacing are different. Ballroom isn't practiced as frequently and therefore isn't popular (with the exception of the recent explosion of popular shows like Dancing with The Stars) - but is excellent for social and formal dances. You will meet someone whom is more likely to want to dance with you frequently, whether for practice, social activity or both. Salsa is much, much more social. You will probably dance with all of the women who can dance at your level. Lots of partner changing. Harder to meet up with the same person, unless the two of you are hot on the floor. If you are looking to share an interest with few women, I would go for ballroom dancing. If you are looking to meeting bulk numbers of women I would go salsa.
JennaGennaro Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I'm confused with the question. Is your friend trying to meet women during lessons or take lessons and THEN hope to meet women with his new skills? If it is to meet women during lessons, I would definitely go with Salsa as others have recommended because I would be afraid that ballroom dancing lessons would be filled with a lot of elderly women. I just don't know what (other than the TV shows) would attract younger women to ballroom dancing. It is elegant, but not sexy. It would definitely help for one's wedding. I'm not knocking it because I think it would be great to learn because dancing is very fun. I just think it might be a bit antiquated, but I guess it would depend on where your friend lives and what the women go for.
