baker23 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I guess your first love is hard to forget because you idealize it as something nice, sweet, and pure. I'm the same way with my first love; we dated 7 yrs when we were teenagers, never had sex; after we broke up, there was a long time when I thought that had been it for me. Years later, I met the love of my life, and I still remember my firts love, but I know I don't love him anymore.
JohnnyBlaze Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Completely ignoring any emotional residue, many of the things that define me as I currently am can be traced right back to when she and I were together. When your life turns, you don't forget when, where or why. On the emotional front, we were engaged. You don't love someone enough to want to spend the rest of your life with someone and then just forget them when things don't work out. You may want to (and for a while there, I really wanted to), but you don't. I'll remember that girl like she kicked my butt in third grade.
