I've met this really nice guy, and right off the bat he told me how shy he is! He proceeded to flirt a little bit of the night, and.... since then we've talked a few times, but I can't tell if his quietness is out of disinterest, or him being shy.

Any tips on how to tell the two apart?

Ask him out on a date. By being around him, you're making your presence known and by being around you more, he can be more comfortable and natural.

Give him the time and space to be who he is.

If however, his reticence begins to get on your nerves, and his quiet, shy retiring side is just so far back it's like helping a cow give calf......

think again.

A shy guy who's interested in you will never reject your moves.

A shy guy who's not interested in you will avoid you more and make up excuses.

A guy who's not interested will avoid you more and make up excuses.

How to tell? A truly shy guy will never tell you. It's only the fakers that do. :)
