d0ll Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Guys - How long before do you ask someone you're interested in to be your Valentine? Girls - Is there any time you would be considered too close to the 14th to accept the date?
ruggy Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 could not tell you. Never had a relationship that went through Valentines. Actually, take that back, I did have one. She said she was doing something with her girlfriend. We've not spoken since. Anyways, supposedly I am going to meet up with this girl on our third date this Saturday; if she confirms (her turn - feel like teenagers). I'll ask her then. If everything goes as usual, she'll say no. If by some strange reason all planets align correctly and she says yes, that would be something. Either way, I will post her remark on Sunday.
movingonandon Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 In my opinion, this "holiday" is whack, completely tasteless humiliation for everybody involved. What I'd do is to simply invite the girl on a date as usual, be fun and nice, and extra thoughtful - i.e. put some effort into implicitly acknowledging "the day" and not mention the effin valentine thing once . If she has an issue with this, then probably our time together will be exceedingly short

I was sitting here thinking, "WTH does it mean to be somebody's Valentine?" It sounds like something you'd ask somebody in grade school - not as an adult. If you're asking how soon is too soon to ask somebody on a date and it just happens to be V-day...why would it differ from any other date? I guess I don't get it. And I'm a chick.
prettybaby Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Girls - Is there any time you would be considered too close to the 14th to accept the date? Well it depends. Say, if I was totally single and not dating anybody at all, and then suddenly a guy asked me out 2 or 3 days before the actual day, then that would be cool with me If it's someone I've been seeing for a while, then a week notice would seem appropriate. In any case, 24h before would be inconsiderate in my opinion. 48h is borderline. I mean, you basically have to give your girl some notice so she can get herself ready. Some girls like to buy a new outfit for that day, so yeah.
zenith Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Some girls like to buy a new outfit for that day, so yeah. that is stupid...
prettybaby Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 that is stupid... lol ok, and your point is? I'm the only one so far who actually answered OP's question ...
