NoraJp Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Hi! I've recently had my pic retouched (I've never done this before) and I would like to hear some opinions about it. (http://www.face2show.com/portfolio.html mine is the second oneon the 1st line). I would like to use this (retouched) pic as a profile pic on the dating site I'm member of. Do you think that's cheating? Thanks!
Trimmer Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Not that I'm big on the whole dating site thing, but I think my feeling would be that eliminating red-eye, shiny skin, fixing lighting/color balance, maybe getting rid of stray strands or locks of hair or food in your teeth or distractions in the background still represent you fairly 'as you are.' But speaking generally about that group of pictures on there, I think that changing shapes of body parts - chin, cheeks, lips, nose, etc. - and eliminating wrinkles are all creating a misrepresentation. How about this: anything you could do with modest makeup (not Hollywood special FX,) comb and brush, a toothbrush, good lighting and photography, etc. I would think of as reasonable. But anything that would require surgery seems like it isn't really representing you fairly... What are your own thoughts about why you are considering doing this? Have you given thought to the idea of meeting someone for the first time "as you really are" and having them wonder about that photo, or do you think it would be kind of subconscious, and they wouldn't even notice? And if you think they wouldn't notice the difference, then why do it in the first place?

Do you think that's cheating? Thanks! I think you look just fine. The guy to the right (on your row) is a weirdo... roll the mouse back and forth quickly, and his nose keeps flaring and his eyebrows are just suggestive! The guy on the left has done some photo-plucking, a nose job and had wrinkles ironed out (liar!! )... The girl under you actually looks worse, if you ask me... all pasty and toneless.... and the little girl looks like an extra from 'interview with a vampire'..... the set of fangs she grows is scary!! see the difference....? You look just fine!
