39388 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 New endeavors that are outside of your interests are hard. The only way you can improve in these kinds of things is to get motivated and work at it. Tried today a few weightlifting exercises. bench press I tried 60 pounds 12 times 80 pounds 3 times 100 pounds 0 times At least I tried. Maybe I'll try again in a couple days. For a fairly large male like me, those numbers are not just poor, they are laughable.
FleshNBones Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I hope to ride 6,000 miles on my bike this year. Last year I started in March & ended up with 4,273 miles & so far I have 47 miles on this year..... We plan on riding this weekend as well, so I am getting a earlier start for this year....I got about 2000 miles last year, and I started in January. Toward the end, I tried to get 4-6 hours a week. I want to get my cycle time up to 10 or more hours a week by the middle of summer. I am aiming for my first century. I will be focusing on strength and technique this year.
irishsimon Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 6.36 for a mile is very good even for a fit person.

Author You'reasian Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 I bench pressed my own bodyweight 15 times the other day. I don't really do that excercise that much, but thankfully I can handle heavier.
gopher Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I played 3 hours of tennis tonight and made a decision that I am cutting refined sugar out of my diet. I'd like to drop 5 lbs around my mid section and my single biggest food issue is cookies and the like.

Sugar also gives you an energy spike followed by a hard fall - it should increase your ability to sustain during the ever so critical after lunch period.
gopher Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Does anyone have experience with jumping rope? My tennis pro recommended it as a good workout.
