BareGoddess Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I hate to tell you this, Kamille, and make of it what you will, but I've only asked one man out in my life and we ended up married! YIKES! Yep, it was the ex. AND he was my boss at the time! What the HELL was I thinking? Anyway, hope all goes well with your date.

I am so damn funny sometimes it hurts. True story.
Dumbledore Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I hate to tell you this, Kamille, and make of it what you will, but I've only asked one man out in my life and we ended up married! That must have been quite some first date. Dinner, a movie, a late-night flight to Vegas, and a long weekend of consummation.
Dumbledore Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I am so damn funny sometimes I'll have to make a point of reading more of your stuff. Somehow your best material must have slipped me by.
Citizen Erased Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I'll have to make a point of reading more of your stuff. Somehow your best material must have slipped me by. I was joking. I know it was lame.
The Collector Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I've only asked one man out in my life and we ended up married! I think you can guess my question...
Author Kamille Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 I think you can guess my question... I'll answer for this date: I paid for dinner! Sprung for the bill and all. There was no way he was laying a finger on that bill. He offered to pay for the drinks we had after. It all worked out! It all went well, it was a fun, intriguing night. He talked a lot a lot a lot and even apologized for talking too much at the end of it. We're going to be keeping in touch and he asked me to let him know next time I was in town. The one thing I enjoyed the most about this date was that we ended up talking about how we see relationships. We both share the view that it would be nice to take one's time before rushing into a relationship. So that was cool and it took a lot of the pressure off. We hugged, no kiss at the end - which I'm perfectly happy with since I'm not swept off my feet but am definitely happy I got to know him a bit better.
likestolaugh Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 he was probably just nervous. I talk too much when I'm nervous too....
Taramere Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The record shows that she suggested meeting up, and was thus the inviter. I paid for my share, and at no point did she say "Put your money away, I invited you.' This is correct. When the bill arrived, there was extensive negotiating - some of it quite heated, with considerable references being made to The Collector's Loveshack thread. Finally I was in a position to draw up an agreement. This took into account the one day tube pass which, had it not been for our meeting, I would not have bought. Also take into account the fact that The Collector ordered food, and I did not. Deduct the fact that I stole a couple of slices of bread, and it was agreed that my contribution of eight pounds to the bill of twenty six pounds would be fair. I'll answer for this date: I paid for dinner! Sprung for the bill and all. There was no way he was laying a finger on that bill. He offered to pay for the drinks we had after. It all worked out! I'm glad your date went well, Kamille - but are you entirely sure it all worked out? You've said that he admitted to talking too much. Had you been better organised, you would have taken along a tape-recorder and then been able to draw up a chart reflecting which of you talked more. Example: X talks for 65% of the time, Y talks for 25% of the time. Pauses and interruptions account for 10% of the time and should be disregarded...unless one party bears particular responsibility for the interruptions. You could then draw up a pie chart depicting (following negotiation) how the two of you agree responsibility for the overall bill should be divided.

Talk about super-sizing his fries! Hey Kamille! Glad to hear your date went well.

Sounds like a lot of hard work for a first date! Make sure you have a calculator with you on the second date. Kamille, happy it went well!! Do keep in touch with him!
The Collector Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I don't do McDonalds. And fairness prevailed, yay.
BareGoddess Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I think you can guess my question... Yes, I tried to pay. He didn't let me. Maybe the fact that he was my boss (Yikes!) and much older than me had a little something to do with it. He was quite old-fashioned in ways and there was no way he would have let me pay. Make of that what you will. But yes, I've paid on dates..just not that time.
BareGoddess Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Good for you, Kamille! Glad you had a good time.
BareGoddess Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 That must have been quite some first date. Dinner, a movie, a late-night flight to Vegas, and a long weekend of consummation. Haha, Dumble. Not quite. It was 6 loooonnngg years later before we got married..biggest mistake of my life. And very funny CE. No, I didn't get a raise. I quit the job. Kamille, sorry if I missed this, but how far away from each other do you live? When will you see him again?
Author Kamille Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Kamille, sorry if I missed this, but how far away from each other do you live? When will you see him again? We live over 1000 kms away (so over 600 miles away). I'm planning on spending the summer in my hometown and I'm guessing he might be around there at that time too. But yeah, no, we won't be seeing each other in awhile.
