starzphalling Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Ok so as a few of you know, my bf brokeup with me soon as it was confirmed i was moving closer to him for college. well im not just going to call off school because he freaked out. So tonight i'm embarking on a 18 hour drive....i need some ideas of how to keep myself distracted while i drive, solo road games anyone? i just don't want to get desperate to talk to someone and then text him, and then get something back i don't want, and then start balling, and then accidentially drive off the side of a mountain because i can't see. i have no friends that i want to talk to cause they're all @$$'s. you know the "you're stupid for wanting him, if a girl dumped me i'd be all like BAM over you!" (i called him on the bs btw...cause thats what it is...bs). so i won't be calling them....need things to do.... i'm also getting really anxious about leaving, i know im going to fall apart in a few days, because he won't contact me. i'm trying to find things to keep me from thinking about it...but it keeps weasling its way back in. why is he so darn stubborn , he needs to figure out that he's a tard....and quick! cause im going crazy. anywho...hopefully i'll get there get all my crap, and have school to keep my mind off him....GAH!!! I HATE THE WORLD!
DSM-IV Tom Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 This will help you whenever you do it. Just name things out in your mind you see, until it's practically automatic. Like "blue car. Green grass. silver railing. highway. road. rocks. sky." You probably will never run out of things as long as you're moving. This lets your mind relax by putting it into autopilot, in a way.
Tomatotop Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Books on CD. Get a couple from the library, that way if you aren't that interested in one you can just go onto the next. They make time go by so fast, and it keeps your mind occupied on something else!
quankanne Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 soundtracks for musicals, music you otherwise might not have time to listen to (Satellite radio is great for this). but don't underestimate the gift of being alone on an open stretch of road. I've found it to be the perfect place to air my concerns and worries, to pray/meditate, to think things through ... and most of all, to cry in private.
Author starzphalling Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 thanx for the responses guys keep em coming lol and tom...that is the best and worst idea ever...i'll get so on autopilot that i will keep doing it when im not in the car....get out at the gas station, start naming crap off...people will run from me thinking im going to kill them and their puppy....though that could be quite amusing for me.....
