prettybaby Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Please don't answer BJs! The man I've been dating for a while now, he's just so amazing. He's bought me chocolates and little things like that, he's always a real gentleman, pays for everything, and treats me like a queen. I'd like to surprise him with a very special gift. Something small, yet really special, and that he'll be able to keep forever. I haven't given him anything yet, and I make more money than him, so it's time for me to do something. He already has a fancy watch, so I can't buy him that. He doesn't like to drink, so a bottle of alcohol won't do. He doesn't watch sports. He does, however, play guitar and piano, and he flies small planes once in a while ... if this helps at all. I'm so out of inspiration. Help a girl out!
Adri Ana Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Its my problem as well!! To choose a present,a gift that would really get appreciated ,yes! And to get such a gift for a guy is a double problem ! All I can suggest is to take some time to visit a mall/street full of shops .Then the right idea will come itself ..
kashmir Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I would have said a handle of hard liquor or a bottle of wine, but he doesn't like alcohol. He plays guitar and piano? I don't know how much you're willing to spend, but a sheet music book of a band or style of music he likes would be a good gift. I know I'd like that. You could also find out what his next potential musical purchase will be. I always have something in line that I want to buy, but it's usually 100 bucks at least.
2sure Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 For a musician - special sheet music is always kept, always special, a nice gift. Pilots LOVE really great sunglasses - if you want to splurge. They are expensive, but wont get lost because they are particular about them.
Author prettybaby Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 ^^ Hmmm, that's a great idea about the glasses! However, wouldn't he have to try them on first?
2sure Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 The expensive aviator type sunglasses are pretty much standard. Generally a larger lens than regular. Its been awhile since I bought for a pilot - but just look up primo pilot gear, and you will find the best.
sally4sara Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Musicians also constantly have upkeep for their instruments and sometimes it gets too costly to just get the things they want immediately. Up keep for an instrument is a luxury if that isn't how they earn their money. Keep your ears open for "I saw these pick-ups (or amp coils, or foot peddles etc.) that would be awesome for my guitar but they're too expensive right now." Check out what brand and type of strings he uses; he'll always need more. Also, look to see if you have any small recording studios in your area. If he sounds interested in this when you mention them, you can book him some time at one.

That's a very valuable gift (in my books).
Author prettybaby Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 If you're ready, tell him you love him. That's a very valuable gift (in my books). Wouldn't that scare him away? I keep hearing how a girl should never say this, especially when the relationship isn't all that strongly established yet. I mean, it's getting there, but it hasn't reached that solid clear point yet.
fral945 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Please don't answer BJs! Well that eliminates one of the honest answers! OP, why are you trying to complicate men? Nothing makes a man feel more special than something sexual.
Tomcat33 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 In reading your situation let me remind you of how extravagant gifts or even premature gifts when no major gifts have been exchanged, are preceived: They are perceived as "pressure" The other person might interpret it as you wanting something in return. So go low key. I wouldn't go with an expensive gift even especially since you haven't expressed love for each other yet and it seems like it is early on. I would treat HIM out on a special night to something he likes to do,take him to a game or a concert or some activity he likes to do and you plan and pick up the tab. That's a nice gift and the memory of a good shared experience planned by you will stay with him for ever. And a bj at the end of the night doesn't hurt.

His musician friends can help to give you some idea of what he uses or could use.

Geishawhelk Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 My partner loves anything miniature and small, so I have given him heaps of tiny detailed ornaments....ranging from a tiny glass turtle, measuring no more than half a centimetre long, to a small hand-bound little notebook, which fits in the palm of his hand. He also tells me that a small gold triangle pendant is very precious. It represents the three sacred types of Love, necessary for a perfect relationship. He never takes it off. But he tells me the most wonderful gift I have ever given him is..... Me.
Ty Wanabu Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 The most special gift I ever received from a woman was a blanket she knitted herself for my bday. I know this sounds corny, especially coming from a guy but it just meant soooo much to me that she took the time to make it herself, for me. It just blew me away. Now if she had asked me what I wanted for my bday, there is NO WAY I would've said "a blanket knitted by you." Other than that the best gifts I have gotten is jewelry that I would not have gotten for myself. My GF once got me a stainless steel bracelet. She said even though I had nothing like it she thought it would look good on me. She was right. I love it and I get compliments on it all the time. I always like it when a woman has the confidence to get me something SHE thinks would look good on me. It's a turn on! Hope this helps.
You'reasian Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Wouldn't that scare him away? I keep hearing how a girl should never say this, especially when the relationship isn't all that strongly established yet. I mean, it's getting there, but it hasn't reached that solid clear point yet. Well if that's a case, hold off until you feel comfortable saying this. If the woman I am interested in told me this, I would think of it as a very, very nice gift. You could always opt to get him a nice pair of shades (as suggested above) or a good cologne that you like.
ferraridave Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 hmm, well thats really hard to say. Usually the best and most memorable gifts are the ones that are unconvensional, that is to say something most ppl dont get as a gift, and its usually something the person didnt know they want until they got it. Try something original. maybe find out who is favorite musician or composer is and get him a signed LP, or perhapse (if you can) some sitdown time with that person/group. The best gift I ever got from a girl was an antique roman sword, she had remembered me saying that I always wanted to start a collection of antique weapons, and took the first step for me. It was the sweetest thing, I felt that she knew me better then I knew myself. I have it wall mounted and I think if her everytime I look at it. Insidentally she says the best gift I ever gave her was a vintage pair of Chanel pumps designed by Coco Chanel in 1916 because she dislikes most modern fashion.
Mahatma Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 The most special gift I ever received from a woman was a blanket she knitted herself for my bday. My girlfriend made me a pillow before college started. I absolutely love it. It's a long pillow(3-4 feet long) and it is so soft. A blanket would have taken a lot longer, but I had told my girlfriend I wanted to get a long pillow like the one on her bed. That pillow means so much to me. It probably only took her about 15 minutes (pillows are really basic), but I am sooooooo happy with it. No one here can really tell you what to do. The best gift has to come from your thoughts. You have to show him that you listen to him and know him well enough to get him something so perfect and so random at the same time.
